I disagree with the trigger part, at least right away. My the milspec trigger first, then upgrade. I feel it makes for being a more versatile shooter.

I think the absolute basic things to turn your budget AR into a bona-fide freedom stick are:

-Upgraded stock (Magpul CTR or BCM, for example)
-A better pistol grip (any BCM Mod is gonna feel great compared to stock)
-A better trigger (LaRue, Ryze or Geissele)
-A solid red dot sight or LPVO (too many to list)
-Back-up iron sights
-A weapon light (Olight, Streamlight, Surefire, etc.)
-A forward grip or handstop (Strike Industries, BCM, Magpul)
