We’ve all heard a bout point of impact shift at long rangers with a suppressor, but I wasn’t expecting this.

  1. I have a Tikka T3 308 Stainles Varmint. Heavy 20" barrel.
At 100 meters, a suppressor has no effect on poi.
In some other configuration, the poi shift could be large, for example a light semi-automatic rifle or pcc.

  2. 2nd comment also nice to see you bring up another issue even if it was inadvertently done Suppressors can get real hot fast….
Heard a story of someone melting the carpet and spare tire cover in their car because of this issue…

  3. Happy to see this video and you could make a series out of this idea " Things that might change point of aim " I'm a believer even time of a weapon and or ammo changes this…..

  4. It's one thing to change the accuracy, another to change the precision. You can easily account for a different aimpoint, so an accuracy change is fine. If it were precision loss, you'd have a much bigger problem IMO. Thanks for the video!

  5. OG, you might want a little tube of antisieze found in any auto parts store for the threads on your can mounts. It will help w/ snugging them up to a consistent torque, and also help prevent the can from loosening up [I know, it sounds wacky: lube helps the threads stay tight? But dry threads are known to have a "self-loosening" behaviour that lubed threads don't.]

  6. also gotta say how dare you take away my opportunity to furiously type and not only show you how much better my gear is but how much i think i know with the good people of the OG community!! you should know any typing is good typing on youtube algorithms

  7. just for fun it would be nice to see if the can once zeroed at 15 opens up any further at 50+ and i’m not talking about your old ass. i know your poor knees and eyes might not take it but your heart and mind might be bored and curious.. i know now mine is and i thought other than adding velocity drop cans didn’t effect left or right! i would die happy to check my bucket list shooting with you and or jeff! i am also a simple man and my bucket list isn’t grand..

  8. Good video, I’ve definitely seen a bump in velocity and definitely a poi shift on every one I use which is why I try to have one on every gun, but I usually try to support Idaho and buy Idaho made ones… but hey to each their own.

  9. Interesting. Here in Australia, we cannot have a suppressor unless we are "professional" shooters and jump through hoops to get permission. If it was anything other than a firearm, we would be required to have sound reduction devices.

  10. Not going to compare my cans to your cans on the shift issue. But, does YT have a hissy fit if you screw on a soda bottle cap? Or mount a camera to a tripod? Or fix a loose screw in your glasses? Yet, they blow their top if you spin a tube on the end of a firearm. Gotta love the thread overlords.

  11. Hey og see if you can tighten the can one more groove see if the threading on your brl is not long enough or the groove threading are to deep on one side making it shoot right

  12. Good info. I've been ignoring the can craze because l don't trust the (insert three letter agency here) and their registry. But, this looks like a good option if l change my mind.

  13. Because of the price I went with three cans, 22,45,30. That way I can get the most coverage for the least amount of money spent. It might sound funny but a 30-30 with a can is hollywood quite, and useful.
