Today, John explains the move to the cleaner, hoodless aluminum body, the side rotary dial with dedicated NV positions and an auto‑brightness mode, plus new shake‑awake and auto shutoff options aimed at making the 1x holographic more duty‑ready.

I actually like the dial, but I actually wish they had kept the hood. It was a sacrificial part and could be replaced if it got damaged. Also, that price is more than I feel like paying for it and it'll probably be a few years before I buy one. I'm all for supporting American companies but comparatively speaking, it's like $300 more than a current EXPS line one.
All I wanted was to have them offer an EXPS2 with a shake awake feature and they expect me to pay 50% more just for that? Jesus, I’m halfway to buying a spare EXPS2 at that point.
