are they talking about accuracy or hunting? (223 was recently made legal in my state for deer) its more velocity and even then u dont wanna go past 200 u wanna hit the lungs.
I hit two kill shots on running deer one at 85 yards and the second one at 127 yards same day with my ARP. Saint victor 7.5 running an sig Romeo 3 MoA. Both took with a single shot right behind the front leg directly hitting the heart on both. It’s the shooter not the gun.
Yeah, reaching out far, as in like going 300m – 500m. The loss in velocity with 10.5, when the 5.56 was developed for a 20" barrel, is huge. Try shooting 300m+ and you will struggle to hit things, AND more so struggle to kill them
A 20" and a 10.5 will both hit at 600 yards. The 10.5 is going to take a lot longer to reach the target though, and its not going to have nearly the same velocity.
Lol… it's not about getting to 100-200yd, it's about getting to 600-800yd, your hold/0 will be different, you'll have more trajectory than a longer barrel since your round won't carry as much velocity
It will plink metal at 150, 200 yards…but it won't be reliably lethal. It certainly won't be lethal at that range against even mediocre armor. 5.56 is a very, very velocity dependent round.
The optic is more the handicap then the barrel length. Depends on the individuals eyesight but 250 and in is my comfortable and consistent limit with a dot or eotech, anything 300-800 I'm using a rifle with nice glass on it cus I can't see worth a fuck lmao
I don't think it's so much about being able to hit targets. It's more the speed the round is traveling at distance isn't enough for a small round that depends on speed to cause a lot of damage.
It just becomes more and more dependent on shooter skill and ammo selection. I’d rather get shot by a 10.5 at 200 yards with 55 gr 556 than a 20 inch barrel with the same ammo

My 10.5 is my fav. I literally love her
There's no difference in drop at 120 yards
I’ve seen a 7.5 inch hit targets, accurately, at 300+ (can’t remember the exact distance)
I hit 500 steels with my 10.5
A shooting range, uphill, that's crazy 😛
I wouldn't call 120 yards far 😂

Peoples opinions are so wild lol. I consider anything passed 15-20yd to be rifle worthy in a perfect world self defense scenario
I've shot pistols that far

The same guys that say that are rocking 7.5 ARP’s
120yrds I can hit a thumbtack! With my Tikka TX3 TAC A1
Not sure ur talking the right type of level 3 reaching
120 yards is close distance… wtf
120 yards ain't shit with a red dot on anything
Far as In like 500 meters +… I can hit a target at 120 yards with my BB gun 😂
110 yrds 😂😂😂
I shoot my 10.3 to 500. Using M855 it still leaves visible silver marks on steel
120 yards is far these days? Try 5-600 to start.
120 yards is close man, thats still shotgun range….
Its an operator issue.
Well 120 isnt far bud. That 10.5 should be touching 300, when people say far they are talking 500+
120 yards was not what they meant by "far"!
That isn’t “far”.

A 10.5 with a 4 inch suppressor… You basically have a 14.5"
Far for you maybe
120 yards is not far
While I agree you can shoot far with a 10.3/10.5” 120 isn’t really a demonstration which proves anything.
120yards is far? Since when? Thats baby distance for a 223 round.
Homie 120 is just out of pistol range if youre running a red dot. Id hope you could hit that with a 10.5.
What ar is that
150yards…wtf are you talking about that is not far
Hit it
Vs
Kill it
Is two different things

Mk18 Daniel 10.5 inch barrel with hornady tap sbr ammo. 400 yards easy. But that’s as far as I’m willing to push

16binch is the best length, Idc what anyone says.
Its all I can afford so its the best lol
Most people have this idea that theyre gonna commando the hills of Afghanistan if shtf.
FAFO! 😂
It just becomes more and more dependent on shooter skill and ammo selection. I’d rather get shot by a 10.5 at 200 yards with 55 gr 556 than a 20 inch barrel with the same ammo
The ones who can’t shoot say it’s not good at reaching out far.
Ya 100 is pretty easy off hand all day especially with a magnifier
