So I was asked to do a video on my light setup on my shotgun and here it is.

Light: streamlight protac rail mount HLX
Mount: arisaka scout mount
Cover: 100 concepts lens cover
Forend: magpul forend
3d printed shell holder: me, duh.

This rig has been run hard with this setup.

  1. I couldn't get a pad to work well for me, especially when running the pump. I prefer a clicky but even more so like a dedicated light built into the pump, like a streamlight racker or surefire dsf. It is worth it.

edit* the DSF is not discontinued but it's hard to find as they don't make it often. The tlr racker is nicer than any light setup I have used on a pump (besides the surefire dsf) and what my 590 is currently rocking.

edit again* I keep breaking pistol optics on my 590, I would encourage rocking a bead or xs bead(love these), or throw on a rifle dot. The 515gm is a slapper. Overall I prefer the bead on the pump gun due to it being extra simple but I am not against dots on a shotty, my a300 has a t2 and I love that setup.

keep up the shotgun content, it is needed brother, and have a blessed day

  2. A very interesting insight! I thought that having it on the pump would be problematic for a multitude of reasons, good to know it is not the case. And the fact that you need it to be easily accessible to switch it on and off quickly pretty much means that it has to be mounted there rather on the barrel or the mag tube.

Since I saw your light flickering quite a lot even on the action, not even talking about the recoil, it's interesting to know that it's not really an issue. So in those regards I am wondering how often do you actually need it in your day-to-day routine? Do you not care about it flickering because you almost never use it anyway, or you don't or would not care even if you had to use it all the time, because it just doesn't matter that much?
