My brand new Anderson Manufacturing AM-15 Utility Model carbine fired the first 20 rounds without a problem but then things turned sour real fast. I won’t be buying another Anderson carbine.

  1. If you have an Anderson lower or upper that's in spec then just be happy. You would probably be surprised how many duds and lemons there are. The "cheapest". I want to go is BCM,STAG , S&W. IWI also makes an incredible rifle.

  2. If I was the CEO of Andersen, there would be a brand new checked and tested rifle on it’s way to you with some ammo to compensate for the rounds you wasted trying to get the gun to run properly. And an apology as well.

  3. a shame. if Anderson reaches out please let us know. have a couple 80% Anderson lowers that came out very nice. now, I do have one of the ss fcg and the hammer is getting peened by the firing pin, still working though.

  4. I have the Anderson AM 15. I took it out to shoot. I was using the PMC 55grain brass. It would not shoot that ammo. One shot and your done. It also wouldn't extract the round either. I took it apart cleaned it. I also ordered a new extractor. Put it back together. Same problem. I then switched to some cheap 55gr Steel case ammo and like a miracle it was healed. It fired every round of the steel case without a hiccup. So now it sits in my gun case as my steel case ammo shooting AR😅. It's still fun to play with.

  5. Your best bet? replace that BCG, and get a new mil-spec or better gas tube and slap that in there.
Then at your leisure, you can swap out the gas key on the Anderson BCG and see if it works with the new gas tube…because it might not be the gas key on the Anderson BCG – could be something out of spec in there. Better yet, contact Anderson and have em send you a new BCG.
Sounds like bad QC and/or tolerance stacking on those parts.

  6. Ive seen Colts from the factory new malfunction then break in most definitely , but after 100 rounds it should not happen just in my experience as a range officer with dod actually , but yea some run brand new but quite a few did hickup

  7. Went to Florida to help my brother move in to his new house—and Helene was about to hit—when I noticed his neighbor was a disabled vet. I also helped him prepare for the impending hurricane. I also installed a lot of things for him. He gave me an early Anderson M4, which had never been fired. I’ve fired it many times in the last months with Zero issues. I think it’s a mid 2000’s made rifle.

  8. I bought the same gun and didn't have those problems. There was one malfunction, but every other round went – no problem. I'm brand new to shooting and this is the first time I've ever fired an AR, so I didn't know the bolt was supposed to lock back after the last round. I don't think it did that.
Thanks for this review. If I have these problems I now know to contact Anderson for a new bolt carrier group.

  9. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Anderson firearms! When you get a new gun sometimes, if you haven't mated the carrier key to the bolt carrier, you will have gas leakage! It will take a few rounds to do what is called carbon sealing, where carbon builds up enough to seal the carrier key to the bolt carrier! Problem solved

  10. I have this rifle with the magpul furniture, but I never ran it with the factory bolt carrier group. I popped a sons of liberty bcg in on day one. And put vibra tite on the gas block screws after I put a dimple for the second screw. And then I pinned the gas block. Also put in a BCM charging handle and a kak four prong flash hider. That factory bolt is probably leaking gas. The pmc 556 ammo is pretty hot. That’s probably why I did OK with that. I personally do not like the nitride bolt carrier groups I prefer phosphate chrome lined and carpenter 158. My two favorites are the sons of liberty and the BCM. so if you’re gonna buy a factory rifle at this price and use it for serious use you almost have to factor in some reliability upgrades.

  11. Could you do a accuracy video on the Anderson? Maybe try a couple diffrent brands of ammo possibly compare to the Radical arms. Hopefully the Anderson just needed a little break in.
