I'm pretty sure that dot has auto turnoff after it stops moving, and has a setting for different idle times before turnoff. Then wakes itself up and turns back on when it's moved again.

just changed my battery last week. Same exact red dot. it was a bitch to get out. Thought i was gonna break it but it held up😂 they do come with a spare tray as well, maybe for a reason😂🤷🏻♂️
