I love my Colt SP1 semiauto rifle, which I bought in 1987. Watch as my son and I shoot this classic American-made beauty. Can my son hit a steel plate at 240 yards with iron sights?

What a nice place to shoot!! Do you pick up ur brass
This old gear head wants to know if we can still fix that truck
The old truck looks like a 67 Dodge
I Should Have Bought One!!!
Bought the AR-15 H-Bar.
Very nice original SP1. I'd really enjoy getting my hands on one. On the flip side, I have been looking into possibly getting my hands on a LE trade in Colt M4 that my local shop got in a few weeks ago.
At the end of the vid…and I was wondering whereabouts you were all at, New Mexico, Arizona? Nevada…and you answered it.
Nice video enjoyed it😅
I had one I paid $365 for in 1978 or 79. Like a dummy I sold it.
There's a sic old.photo.of dr Ron Paul holding one of these and he's so young lol
I'm still kicking my butt for ever getting rid of mine! I got mine back in 76' after coming home after AIT. But as a young kid with little funds, I got new guns by trading up. I'm sure most of us older dudes can relate.
I have one these old fenceless receivers picked it up at a cop shop prior to the Clinton Ban it came mounted with a Bushmaster XM177 style heavy barrel upper and a full AR stock shoots well to this day. Always wondered what the correct set up looked like – thanks for the enlightenment!
How's the bayonet work on that? Is there an adapter for the difference in distance?
I have been lucky enough to cross paths with 2 of these that were for and bought them both. They are safely tucked away in the safe for my son when he is older.
I was issued one by the US Customs Service and loved it! It made a terrific ranch rifle. After, I left the service, I was unable to buy one until decades later.
See you guys when i get out.. I was just given 5 to 10 for just looking at this Video
Definitely the corniest gun tuber channel I've seen
If there is one thing southern Nevada is not in short supply of it's abandoned trucks in the desert.
I have an old Bushmaster HBAR with the C7 carry handle upper and I absolutely love it! It’s one of my favorite rifles! I had a chance to buy the same Sp1 you have when I was working at a gun store but I already had the Bushmaster and couldn’t afford the sp1 at the time! Always enjoy your videos! Keep up the great work!
Bought my Colt SP1 carbine in 1984. Paid less than $400 for it. Same gun show found a vendor with an M1-D, unissued in-the-box wrapped in wax paper with all accoutrements for $900.00 Been kicking myself for the last 40 years for leaving that one on the table, but still love the SP1. Great days back then when you could get 20 round boxes of .223 for $5.00 a pop at the guns shows…
Mixup you have one heckuva rifle right there haven’t seen that one in a long time. It’s a beauty great shooting as always thanks for all the great videos.
I love watching father and son spending quality time together. Great job!
I trained on one back in '68. We received a new batch while I was there replacing our M-14's. Previous to that in the ROTC we trained on M-1's. It was that transition time in the services. I'd love to have all those old rifles back. These days it's AR-15's and SU-16's and…I guess that's what it means to be an old fart. 😀 Thanks for the memories guys, good shootin'.
