Lockhart Tactical, Enhanced Triple QD Sling Mount End Plate
I had problems with the stock end plate backing out which caused the rear takedown detent spring to come loose and get damaged so i decided to replace the endplate with one with a qd sling point or in this case 3 qd points.
So far I am loving the new endplate. I think it adds a really clean look to the build as well as a lot of functionality and a new sling mount option. The qd on the end plate allows me to ability to run a single point sling comfortably with a good balance on the gun
Magpul DT Carbine Stock, MilSpec
This stock replaces the old magpul carbine stock I used to have on this rifle. NO WORRIES THE OLD ONE DIDN’T GO TO WASTE its now on my wk180. My main reason for replacing the stock was i wanted a better stock on my wk180 but i use my k9 a lot more so i transferred the old stock and replaced it with something with a much better finish.
The tolerances on the dt carbine stock are a lot tighter and there is hardly any play between it and the buffer tube unlike the old stock. I was also looking for something with a qd point on it so i would have the ability of running a 2 point sling setup when used in combination with my new strike industries angled qd mount
Strike Industries, LINK Angled QD Mount
The qd mount is built with high quality aluminum and is extremely sturdy and looks very clean as well as offering a very ergonomic sling attachment point for running a 2 point sling setup
Kodiak defense k9 flared magwell
One of the most functional additions ive made to the rifle excluding the optic might be this flared magwell. Its made with high quality aluminum and is extremely easy to install and remove using only one screw. For those who are unaware a flared magwell allows you to reload the firearm much easier and more reliably especially in competition setting when you are under stress and the clock. The magwell greatly increases the speed of this by allowing a much larger margin for error when reloading while not affecting the reliability of the firearm
Radian Weapons, Talon Ambi 45/90 Safety Selector
The radian talon 45/90 safety is something I’ve had my eye on ever since i’ve bought this gun. It’s got a very clean look to it as well as offering a tone of customization for the shooter to set it up exactly how you want it. It comes with 6 different sized safety levers that you can install on either side of the ambi safety. My personal favorite way to set up the safety is not to have a lever on the right side of the gun and to use the lowest profile lever on the left side of the firearm. I find this to be the most comfortable setup because of my large hands.
Raptor Ambi Charging Handle
To complete the look I was going for on the k9 I installed one of my favorite pieces on the firearm. The large ambi charging handle makes chambering the rifle so much more comfortable and enjoyable as well as giving the ability to charge the firearm from either side making shooting with your off hand just that little bit easier because lord knows i need all the help i can get with offhand shooting
Vortex 3x mini review
The part of the video most of you probably came to see is the review on the 3x mini magnifier. At this point i have put around 2500 rounds through this firearm the last roughly 1000 of which ive had the flip up magnifier on it. Im going to start off with the cons ove had with it and follow up with the things i really like about the optic
Cons
When you remove the optic and place it back on the firearm it does not hold “zero” even when being placed back on the same pic rail
If you slam the magnifier up or down too hard it can shift the “zero” slightly
The eye box is not the greatest you dont have the most play with where you need your eye to be only allowing a bit more than an inch of travel without the eye box being affected
Pros
The mini has a very noticeably larger sight window than the standard 3x as well as more forgiveness in the distance needed to get full sight picture
Although the “zero” does shift the gun is still very accurate zeroing the optic does not shift your point of impact it only centers where you see the red dot you are magnifying
The focus on the mini is quite good quality especially when compared to the regular 3x
I would definitely recommend this optic for anyone looking for a good quality flip up magnifier and is not trying to break the bank and buy one of the eotech magnifiers. Similar to eotech vortex offers both a 3x and a 6x magnifier, in my personal opinion i would not waste my money on the standard magnifiers and would only buy a mini magnifier the finishing as well as the glass quality is significantly better on the minis
