The bcg and barrel are the two key components you don’t wana skimp on if you plan on shooting it a lot. But if it’s just a home defense/ “just in case” rifle then you can get away with nearly anything. The cheaper rifles like psa, radical firearms and any other sub $500 rifles are perfectly fine. May not be the most accurate but more than capable of being minute of man out to 300yds. You only start running into problems with these rifle once you get a high round count. But if you never plan on putting more than 5k rounds through it you will most likely be fine. But I’d recommend if you are looking for something closer in quality to a bcm or solgw rifle but just a little more money than the psa/radical id say build your own using a good quality barrel (always have some kind of deal out there) good quality bcg, aero receiver set, kac handguards decent lpk and whatever furniture you prefer you can build a duty capable rifle for under $800 especially if you buy the parts while they are on sale.
Wish my state would allow me to buy an AR in the first place.
