On Friday March 22nd, Senate File 606 and Senate File 4312 passed out of the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee and have been referred to the Senate Finance Committee. These bills would penalize gun owners for failing to report a lost or stolen firearm and impose a one-size fits all firearm storage requirement. Additionally, Senate File 5153 was amended in the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee, which added language that bans certain firearm triggers. Please use the Take Action button below to contact your senator and urge them to OPPOSE these anti-Second Amendment bills!
SF 606 victimizes gun owners who suffer loss or theft of their property, with criminal penalties if they do not report lost or stolen firearm to a law enforcement agency within 48 hours.
SF 4312 would implement a one-size fits all firearm storage requirement, regardless of personal circumstances and needs. Failure to follow this storage requirement will expose an individual to criminal penalties. This legislation tips the scales in favor of criminals and victimizes law-abiding gun owners who seek to defend themselves.
SF 5153 was amended with vague and ambiguous language banning certain firearm triggers. Despite committee questions and push back during the hearing on how this language could potentially implicate many common factory installed triggers, the bill was passed with the amendment.
Once again, please contact your senator and urge them to OPPOSE SF 606, SF 4312, and SF 5153!
