  1. I WISH I WOULD HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE…. I bought a Noreen AR 10 lower. I thougth they were mil spec and I could just throw a PSA on top… easy cheesy. The lower is suppose to be a LR-308 DPMS compatable… and the PSA might be the same but the lower does look different. At least it was only 90 bucks. Still, it's going to grive me crazy knowing I have it… just sitting there. Any idea?

  2. 6:15 The prevalence of the LR-308 platform is why I decided to go with a DPMS lower. Also the G2 would look nice with a fixed buttstock like the one depicted on the LR-308 in the diagram as well as an integrated A2 carry handle-style upper

  3. To further muddy the waters you did not mention the "Mutant "Ar action that GMMG makes because the 7.62mm X 39 mm bolts use a Ar 10 Dia bolt , but the carrieris are intermediate length BGG. Not as long as a Ar 15 but shorter than a AR10..

  4. This looks like a great series. I contemplated building an AR-10, after reading about the Armilite .260 rifle, but uncertainty of parts availability and compatibility killed my interest. Eventually, I decided to go the AR-15 route, only to learn Barrett Arms was designing and preparing to build quality AR-10s for the military. As everyone knows, Barrett builds great rifles. I hope to someday field an AR-10 for hunting. Until then, I'll just have to be satisfied with reading about them. Thank you for sharing this series!

  5. Thanks – another great series chock full of good info. My last build before our state's AWB went into effect was an Aero Enhanced (internal) AR-10 with Wilson Barrel and BCG. Only issue was feed ramps on barrel extension sticking out past receiver feed ramps. Runs fine, but I'd like to try other part combos. Unfortunately, now we can't even buy replacement parts here!

  6. Had been looking at DPMS lowers, then found a great deal on a Diamondback (Armalite cut) then I learned the difference. I've gone on to build an extra 6.5 upper, and then bought everything for a complete other build. Just about everything came from Diamondback, which actually has some really good prices on components.
    Great info!

  7. Man i spent over 5 k on my last 308 dpms build, got it to 5.8 lbs without the scope and suppressor. Built on a Roam rifles receiver set and smoke composites furniture, with a titanium bcg, and BSF carbon fiber wrapped barrel.

  8. Good Video dude.
Building an AR-10 from Scratch for starters ends up throwing people into a rabbithole… Like you said. Mostly because it have something to do in noticing the differences between AR-10 Pattern vs Aero Precision/DPMS LR308 pattern

It's understandable why it's quite common to see LR308 / DPMS Gen II / PSA Gen III getting built from scratch and AR-10 pattern rifles being the option for those who wants to buy a complete rifle from the get-go in case of a better financial condition.

On AR-10 Pattern (and even that some of these brands does their own stuff, it's quite the niche):
    – ArmaLite
    – KAC
    – LMT Defense
    – Diamondback Firearms
    – LWRCI
    – STAG Arms
    – Daniel Defense
    – LaRue Tactical
