NRA-ILA | Michigan: Legislature Adjourns Sine Die for 2023

Today, the Legislature adjourned sine die for the year. Any legislation that has not advanced through both chambers, or which has not been defeated in 2023, will carry over to the second half of the session when the Legislature reconvenes in 2024.

Starting early in the year, anti-gun radicals introduced a whole slew of gun control bill packages. They resorted to suppressing opposition at perfunctory committee hearings to rush them through the legislative process. Unfortunately, these underhanded tactics paid off for them in passing packages for “red flag” gun confiscation, requiring mandatory firearms storage, going above and beyond federal law in denying Second Amendment rights to those convicted of certain offenses, and expanding Michigan’s permit-to-purchase and registration to include long guns.

NRA will be back in Lansing for the second half of the 2023-2024 session. Meanwhile, please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates on issues affecting our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage in Michigan.
