  1. I rock a 16" Wylde & she does great out too 500y. I'm just a retired Ranch shooter.
My Buddy is L.E. for 25+ years & he just switched to a 10.5" because it's faster out of the patrol unit & easier to clear houses.

  2. No one that knows anything about 5.56 is going to tell you to get a 10" barrel. This isn't your wife's favorite local toy store. You want maximum performance and versatility with the 5.56? You gotta go full size. I'm talking Bad Dragon here.

  3. I'm pretty sure I got T-shirts older than this guy. Stick with 16", 18", or 20" for 5.56. If you go 10.5" or below, 300blk all the way!! It performs better on "soft targets" out of a shorter barrel compared to 5.56. Don't take my advice though, do your own research and act accordingly. 😉

  4. 11.5”-14.5” is ideal for most anything. 18”-20” for maxing out your range. SBR’s are just fine for most people because most people never shoot beyond 100-200ish yards and still have enough of a challenge to hit a soda can at that range. Buy/build a decent rifle and spend the rest on ammo/training.

  5. Shorter barrel? Get a caliber that's designed to optimize performance out of said barrel. 5.56 and 223 were designed to be fired out of a 20" barrel. If you really want shorter? Go for .300 Blackout, 7.62×39, etc. Plenty of other calibers out there…just NOT 5.56 if you can help it.

Of course the MK18 is still lethal, and of course no one wants to get shot with one…but when you're talking about what you should get? Go for the best option.

Personally, I have a longer 5.56 rifle, and a shorty backpack .300 Blackout. I'm thinking about selling my rifle though because it's not quite long enough for my liking.

  6. If you have a family, rifles are not for home defense unless your house is layer out in a safe way. If you sleep on one side of the house and your family sleeps on the other, they could be potential targets
