Today I take a look at the MacroStream USB Rechargeable Flashlight by Streamlight

When it comes to EDC (Every Day Carry) flashlights, there are some criteria I look for. Easy to carry, bright enough for most of my needs, as well as dim enough, and ideally rechargeable. This fits most all of those pretty well.

I’ve carried the MacroStream quite a bit and it has done well for me in most conditions. From out in the backcountry, to shooting on the range, to day to day tasks. A overall handy light. Not to mention pretty affordable.

  1. My Macrostream just completely died and I needed to send it in to Streamlight.

I carried it everyday for over a year and really liked it, but wanted to give my data point on durability to anybody considering purchasing one.

  2. I had this light for work for over two years while working nights I run a power plant and when things go wrong they go very wrong and you certainly need a good light it is not a bad light I just recently upgraded to a cloud defense and couldn't be happier

  3. I use the rechargeable microstream zip tied to my long guns as weapon lights. It's fudd but they're light, low-bulk, affordable and they make decent brightness. These are way better for that, I just need to get the cash together to buy a bunch of them. Thanks Ivan!

  4. Have been rocking mine since November last year. Broke the pocket clip 2 weeks ago and that sucks! Esp if you live in South Africa. But what a easy to use edc flash light. Love it 2x more than my Okluma DC0

  5. I LOVE having high/low.. that said on a "tactical" type light I wish the low was onna separate switch mechanism.. maybe a "slide up and press down" switch somewhere else on the torch. It seems you always get the "wrong" setting with a single tailcap switch and even a quick blip of high wrecks your low light vision.

  6. I’ve owned serval micro streams with good luck. I’ve had nothing but trouble with the one macro stream that I own though. The tail cap works whenever it feels like it and most of the time it doesn’t feel like it… These days I’m EDC’ing the Cloud Defensive Chicro and really liking it, but I do still carry the micro stream occasionally.

  7. Holy PWM batman! As is clearly visible in the video, the low mode is PWM controlled, which is annoying and about 10+ years behind the times. I even EDC the microstream, but in a larger light not using current control in 2023 is a silly decision.
