  1. the 22lr conversion unit is the big reason. It can be used for relevant snapshooting practice, IF the 223 variant is a short barrel and wears a silencer, and the 22 unit is used with a long, heavy flashhider, so the handling qualities are the same. With 1 in 9" rifling twist, 60 gr Aquila subsonic 22 ammo, and 60 gr 223 softpoints, I can handle anything other than concealed-carry fast draw. I can take it down and conceal it until I get to my firing point, then assemble it, shoot the scumbag, take it apart again and blend in with the crowd. With the subsonic 22 and the silencer, I can double check that my sights are still zeroed, before I risk the shot. The 22 unit is superb for training novice shooters and for foraging small game. It can be BB gun quiet if you know to hold-shut the 22 bolt and run the "can" wet, with WD-40 and water, It will brain men, dogs, deer, and hogs to 50m, and horses and cattle to 20m, with temple hits only on such big animals. The brain lies about 3" above a line drawn between ear hole and eyeball

  2. Certainly AGREE with your DD and BCM choices. Most likely..IF it came down to EITHER the DD OR the BCM..?..I’d go BCM. Mainly because of 3 OUT OF 4 DD’s we have, ONLY 1 has its ‘castle nut’ STAKED. No big deal EVERYBODY says..and it’s really not, UNLESS ‘THEY’ themselves tell you “they’re ALL SUPPOSED TO BE staked BEFORE they leave Black Creek”. So, there’s that. I can only SUPPOSE you’re right with Aero..I don’t have an ‘Aero’ AR.
