  1. So not really 5-600 yards. Speed and Fragmentation is mostly what makes the 556 effective. Out of your standard 16 in barrel you will get between 250-350 yards. Most people fall for the fad of AR pistols. When you chop your barrel down to 10-12 inches your effective range is between 100-150 hards. At most with a 20in AR you are looking at an effective range of 400. Doesn’t mean you can’t accurately hit beyond that but it essentially loses most of its lethality

  2. The AR-15/M16 platform is one of the few things we can say are ours as Americans. Plus Whoopi Goldberg hates them, so I love them even more. Biggest gripe I hear about this is the power of the round or lack thereof, but the people getting hit with it aren't saying much.

  3. The ar influenced weapon designs and afor well over 50 years. Most modern rifles today that aren't ar or ak pattern mostly use a multi-lug rotating bolt, inline stock, and a flat top accessory rail. However, I never cared for the non ambi bolt catch/release, charging handle placement, over gassy suppressor host, and usual fitment problems between the upper and lower.

  4. It's definately a proven platform with infinate accessories and combinations, similar to the many different after-market parts available for the Ruger 10/22. The FN-FAL was what i was issued during basics in the early 1970s, I've always looked to that as my go-to, and my favourite plinker has always been my Marlin 795, it's very basic but it does the job. Thanks.

  5. How do you like that Leupold red dot? I’ve been looking into one for a while. Seems to have a lot of good features, but nice heard it has awful battery life even with shake awake.

My AR is an Aero Precision I assembled (90% of the parts are AP except for the delta ring a few roller pins). Solid gun for a $600 in parts.

  6. The biggest problem with the AR15 is not the platform itself but rather the propaganda by the US government elevating the capability of the AR15 platform (standard procedure in all militaries to over exaggerate your troops weapons and downplay the enemy firearms to boost troop moral) and the mythical expectations of the AR15 by the general public.
-AR15 excels at ranges out to but not excess of 200 yards. Standard 16" barrel with standard 55grain has a velocity of 2943fps using the standard of 223 on breaks into 3 or more pieces at the minimum velocity of 2400fps somewhere between 150 and 200 yards your AR15 unless shooting special ammo will no longer fragment into three or more pieces and this fragmentation is why the AR15 is such a good rifle but only out to 200 yards. Just because you can hit something at range does not mean you can kill it at that range. Most shooters only shoot at these ranges and that is why ar15 always looks so good all the time because these are the ranges the AR15 excels in.
-People believe the AR15 is more accurate than it actually is. The average AR15 people come across is $1K or less and those shoot on average 2moa when the average shooter is about 5moa.
-Most 223 soft point and hollow point bullets are not held to the same standard as literally all other rounds as far as ballistics gel penetration's tests with most only getting about 9inches when 12 inches is minimum. However copper and OTM bullets will perform well.
-The AR15 is one of the better varmint (creatures under 50lbs) and personal protection rifles.

  7. I’m in a mid range and will be there for a long time. I have simple “ RECCE “ setup. I can see you yawning right now.😂😂😂😂 don’t get me wrong I would love have LAMBORGHINI rifle, but just can’t afford it. I do have a lot of ammunition with money I save. 😊

  8. I'd replace your stock with a Rogers Locking stock, ( same as Wilson Combat uses exclusively ) and totally eliminate any flop n slop movement, can't tolerate and looseness to the stock.
I like the closed ear lower, have several similar from Anderson, but now I only use SOTA Arms billet lowers. Yes, I use anti-walk pins and have many nickel teflon infused stainless triggers, polished of course, May one day try a 2 stage, all mine run ambi-charging handles, generic, and enhanced firing pins.
Among my fav's are the .264 Les Baer Customs (6.5 Grendel) and the 7.62×39's as here in Florida, 5.56/.223 are only legal mainly for two legged's, .243 and up for the deer n piggies.

  9. I have two, one I built and then a commercial model. Weaknesses in my opinion concern the gas system, recoil system, stocks, and the upper/lower interface. I'd prefer a piston gas system. I'd prefer the recoil system in the upper with no "buffer" tube. This would allow for a better stock. I feel in general that there should be a tighter and more precise interface between the upper and the lower.
