On Wednesday, April 5th, the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee will be holding a public hearing on LD 1255, which bans firearms at polling places. NRA members and Second Amendment supporters are urged to contact lawmakers and request that they oppose this anti-gun measure. Please contact committee members NOW and ask them to OPPOSE ALL anti-gun bills that would place further burdens on law-abiding gun owners!

LD 1255 imposes a ban on all firearms within a 250-foot boundary around all polling places. This ban pertains to Election Day AND the 30 days prior to Election Day when early voting is occurring. This bill creates more “soft targets” in Maine, disenfranchises gun carrying voters, and ensnares law-abiding citizens who are walking or driving in the right of way within this boundary. Violating this law may result in a fine of up to $1,000.

Again, please contact committee members and urge them to OPPOSE any and all anti-gun measures that will do nothing to reduce violent crime in the Pine Tree State and will only burden law-abiding citizens!
