I was worried about this! but it turned out to be no big deal. Do you find AR9 or AR PCC to be unreliable? This thing has run like a champ once we got it sorted. Pistol Caliber Carbine 9mm

  1. Do you have a PCC length buffer? Otherwise you may have problems with brass going back in the trigger group or shearing off the bolt catch. One option with a standard length buffer is to stack quarters in your buffer tube behind the spring. I forget the amount of change. I think it's a $1.75 but don't quote me on that. You add the quarters in and your bolt should just barely clear past the Bolt catch. You should also be using a heavier buffer with pistol calibers. Many of them have an 8 ounce

  2. is the definition of the ar9 as a pistol an ATF(national) thing or do you have to worry about each state you travel through what their laws are concerning it's definition, if you use it in a CCW fashion, even how it's stored, separate from ammo, mags, mags loaded or not? I like how TSA says ammo has to be in a container, that they allow the dust cover on AR mags to be considered as such but if no dust cover on then big nono, is there something like that for ar9 mags? You should 3d print some piece that would fit as last round in mag that 'locks' into place as a dust cover! So confusing and potentially big issue.

  3. How far back can the front of the BCG move past the bolt catch/bolt release? My research found if the BCG can move all the way back, the BCG (very heavy) can build up a lot of momentum if the bolt catch is up. This force could break the bolt catch. If the bolt moves all the way back, there might be room for a piece of brass to get stuck in the lower receiver near the trigger group? I have tuned my buffer/buffer spring to allow the BCG to move only about 1/8 to 1/4" past bolt catch. When tuned like this, there would be no spaces available for a piece of brass to get stuck. Not sure if this is the root cause…but check it out and see if this might be the cause. What did I use to prevent my BCG going fully into the buffer tube? About $2.75 worth of quarters put into the buffer tube prior to the buffer and buffer spring. Amount of quarters depends on just allowing the BCG to move a little past the bolt catch.

  4. Ar9 pistol caliber carbines can be a little finicky on ammunition. You basically got a stove pipe when feeding that round and it got caught up in the gas tube charging handle cut out of the upper receiver. I had to ramp my bolt carrier on my ar9 and reblue the carrier. So that I could run a lighter trigger. Echo

  5. I don't have an AR9 but a Beretta CX4 Storm PCC that shares mags with an M9 pistol.
The blowback operated PCC's are dirty for sure.
But I like using a 9mm PCC for defensive duty due it having less penetration than an AR in .223.
Quick, light, handy, and 30 rounds of hollow points.
The 16" barrel gives 9mm a little boost of velocity too.
