 Don’t Stop Writing Your Senator

Today, the Legislature garnished bipartisan support and voted 36-12-1 to pass Nebraska’s Constitutional Carry legislation. This is great news, but we aren’t across the finish line yet. The measure will still face two more rounds of voting before it has officially passed out of the legislature and is sent to Governor Pillen’s desk. Gov. Pillen has pledged to sign Constitutional Carry into law. He has never wavered in the fight to expand and protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Nebraskans. NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters are encouraged to continue contacting their senators urging them to SUPPORT Legislative Bill 77 without further amendments.

Legislative Bill 77 recognizes that a law-abiding adult who is legally allowed to carry a concealed firearm, can do so without first having to obtain government permission. This ensures that citizens have the right to self-defense without government red tape or delays. Additionally, this legislation maintains the existing concealed handgun license system, so citizens who still wish to obtain a permit may do so. LB 77 does not change who is eligible to obtain a carry permit.

Half of the states in the Nation have now enacted some form of Constitutional Carry. Nebraska is one step closer to becoming the 26th Constitutional Carry state. If LB 77 becomes the law, EVERYONE in Nebraska will have an equal opportunity to defend themselves and their loved ones!

Thank you to Senator Tom Brewer, who introduced LB 77, for his leadership in ensuring this legislation moves forward to strengthen Nebraskans’ right to self-defense. However, the fight is not yet over; it is important that NRA Members and Second Amendment supporters continue contacting their State Senator and asking them to SUPPORT Legislative Bill 773 without further amendments.
