Finally, a Good PDW

In this episode of TFBTV, Hop reviews the CMMG Dissent, an ultra compact PDW style AR chambered in .300 Blackout. The Dissent has a recoil system fully contained in the upper receiver, which allows it to mount a folding stock or brace, and even fire folded. These are also available in 5.7x28mm and 5.56x45mm but .300 Blackout is (of course) the one you want.

  1. Honestly a telescoping stock/brace like the ottoarms scar stock might be the way for the dissent. But the real question is why no 5.56 16 inch upper? Why not try to harvest some market share off the foxtrot Mike whatever 15.

  2. How did the paint hold up? I just built a .300 blk rifle on their MK4 upper receiver and the paint is literally falling off, CMMG says that is to be expected from a cerakote paintjob. Living in Sweden with no chance for refund etc I have to repaint the gun for the same amount that the receiver costs.

  3. Watching these PDW videos are hilarious to me. The Sig Rattler is king here. It’s a duty grade, piston operated, side folding with an adjustable gas block. You can also reconfigure it however you like with different barrel lengths, throw on a shorty suppressor or go full length with an SD hand guard. That’s how I have mine set up and it’s in a eberlestock bag. Fits fine folded and I have a med kit, 3 mags, essentials and two bags of peak refuel dry food. I’ll be good to go. 2K is to much for what the gun is, save up and get the Sig Rattler. It’s called but once, cry once.

  4. I’m looking forward to seeing the price for the Dissent upper on its own. I know CMMG has said they plan on selling just the upper eventually. Would be nice to pair it with a lower fitted with the accessories we actually want.

  5. What about the CNC Warrior side folding brace? I wonder if it would clear – but it clears well on my draco. More of an AK aesthetic but the lockup on mine has been fantastic. And its made of aluminum. Solid.

  6. What is up with all these gun review guys talking about guns that do not penetrate body armor? Who gives a shit about knockout power and compactness, when it doesn't penetrate a body armor? Personal Defense Weapon suppose to make people defend themselves from their possible enemies… If it does not penetrate an armor, then it is just a $2,000 expensive target shooting toy gun. Not PDW, IMHO. If you want a target shooting toy gun, there are plenty of them you can find for well under $1000.

  7. 1:50 "Lack of terminal performance"? A 7.5" 5.56 will reach around 2000fps and go through several 2x4s at 100 yards. I wouldn't call that a "lack of performance". It does exactly what is designed to do.
