The H&R Ultra Slug Hunter 20-gauge compact has a rifled 22″ barrel. I bought this used with the TruGlo sight on it. I shot it with slugs at 50 yards and with shot loads at 15 yards.

I wouldnโt pay more than 200 for one where Iโm from they sell $80-$100 all day long
My go to gun for deer hunting 20 gauge H & R slug rifle with the Red Dot aim Point scope
Rifled barrels aren't designed to shoot rifled slugs.
Had one in 12ga. Very accurate..unpleasant to carry.lol. would much rather have the 20ga..very nice firearm
I have questions pls!it legal to hunt deer with red dot?
Have owned the 20 ga. over 25 yrs stone cold accurate killer
I have yet to see one with a 2.5 pound trigger they are usually closer to 8 pound trigger. They are very accurate though
Why does he say a 20 ga is a starter when you have to to be a better shooter to use it,what would a 28 ga be?
hoped for a good vid
I tried the tru glo but my base screws stripped out.
Have a 3×9 on mine, does a number on white-tailed deer here in VA
Sadly H&R was part of the debacle known as Remington and there isn't anyone making these anymore. I have this gun and it's a shooter. Best deer/hog gun for the money. I hope someone revives them.
U donโt shoot shot out of a rifled barrel it wears out the rifling
Sweet gun, designed to shoot saboted slugs. Rifled slugs are for smooth bore. Interesting to see the shot though might not be the best for the rifling. I noted the price of the se guns are going up on the used market.
Rifled barrel = sabot slug, smooth bore barrel = rifled slug … rifling needs to be on one, not both and not neither
I absolutely love my ultra slug hunter, killed a deer at 278 yards with it, dropped it with authority too, whoโd have thunk it from a 20ga. I use 260gr Remington accutips 2 3/4
TheFireArmGuy has a good video on this too. You also make a good case for this weapon in Home Defense. That 'kick' could be from the fact that you are not holding the gun securely as one usually does. Thanks for showing us this.
Junk gun!
Im wondering if you can purchase the barrel still n interchange with another HR 20 ga. .
I havenโt seen one of those in a while. Used to see them all the time at the gun shop; guess I took it for granted. I have a .410 break action that is one of my favorite guns to shoot. Would love to get one of those in 12 gauge as a backpack/hunting gun.
Looks good
Interesting shotgun. Wasnโt President McKinley shot with an H&R revolver? Thanks for Sharing! ๐๐๐๐๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ
P.S. McKinley was shot with an Iver&Johnson .32
Sweet single action break open 20 ga Shotgun !!!!!!!!!! I use Remington 20 ga Number 6 shot ammo for pheasant hunting out of my Franchi Veloce O/U shotgun.
My first new gun given to me was an H&R 20ga. I was 11 or 12 and my grandaddy gave it to me. I still have it. Good times squirrel and rabbit hunting. My uncle "loaned" my his Browning Sweet 16 which I kept 20 years.
Back in the day I had a collection of H&R shotguns. 410, 28, 20, 16, 12, 10 gauge. Until my ex-wife sold all my guns. I miss the guns the wife not so much.
Yes indeed I like single shot shotguns. I love shooting slugs out of my 20 gauge. Mine has a rail I gonna put one of them Tru glo on it and have funโบ๐บ๐ธ
Good review
Mr Rider. It's looking to me like a great combination. Thanks for showing. ๐คซ๐ณ๐ฑ๐๐ป๐บ๐ธ
My first gun was an H&R 20ga single shot my uncle gave me when I was 14. I sold it at 3A because I'm not really into shotguns much and it hadn't been fired in at least 25 years
