The Dissent uses a hybrid, bufferless operating system which is initially available in 5.7x28mm, 5.56, and 300BLK PDW style configurations. Cute! Mags oversized for the round, though good they fit in AR mag pouches (reliable/durable?), and expensive. Needs a longer barrel in this calibre IMO (at least 10.4 inches like the P90 and MK18).

That is basically the same design as the Rock River Arms LAR-PDS PISTOL, 5.56/.223, WITH TRI-RAIL HANDGUARD.
Those came out about 15 years agonand I bought one a few years later. It runs great. It works better with a sling off the rear than a pistol brace. Very easy to wield and come up on target. It is a little heavy and loud in .223 short barrel.
I have a couple of CMMG Baanshees in 10mm and they are great! Very nice weapons for the money.
A comparative ballistics gel test between a 5.7 and a 9mm would be informative. Especially the performance of defensive ammo aka hollow points.
I wish we had something like that in germany.
