frog lube and duck tape. BLAHHAA 😂😂.
Am I the only one that can smell this video?
Is that a sightmark? Lol. Not worth the effort. You can get stripped lowers for less than $50 and assembled uppers for $60-$90.
Thanks for the video.
So, here's a theory: The original owner couldn't get the rifle to work (mysteriously) so he started it on fire.
Saw Anvil Gunsmithing use a gutter and various pipe sizes to hold elongated parts in chemicals. I bet that would work with the upper.
Even the BCG can be salvaged with proper heat treatment if nothing cracked. Doing this for real would be Terminator world stuff. Not that Skynet isn't already aware!!!
Previous owner obviously didn't know which end the round exits
I'd try to reheat treat the upper and lower to restore most of the strength. Definitely not ideal but in case of emergency. I've welded aluminum for decades so a proper heat treatment could restore that at least but wouldn't correct any distortion.
Next week on Garand Thumb: Burning Rifle Test: AR vs AK vs Beretta vs Galil vs HK.
Looks like a “CA compliant” AR…
I'm a huge fan of Evaporust. I've used it for both firearms and automotive applications. Fantastic stuff.
I guess I understand this from a stand point of “can it be done”? The better question is “should this be done”? Doesn’t matter what company performed the finish machining of the forgings. Fact is it got very hot. Likely too hot. Seems like a reckless endeavor to even consider rebuilding this mess.
Couldn't help but laugh when you said you seen worse. This should be interesting.
That’s an FN made magazine too!!!! (Based on the code on the side of the mag).
I’m an absolute vulture, & even I would have used this for a flower garden ornament & buy a new AR-15.. but there’s definitely some good parts there. It’s even possible that the barrel or bolt body survived.
Great little series. Thanks for sharing your work on this.
The fact that the buffer was in backwards it saved it from melting haha.. what a cool video..
Reminded me of the 2003 fire of the tent city in Kuwait. Where redeployment of troops from OIF. A USMC unit lost all their gear, just burned up weapons left.
This owner should watch this really cool channel called SOTAR on YouTube.. how do you even put a buffer in backwards. Better yet how do 2 primers make it that far?!😳
8:05 comedy gold
I wonder if there are two primers in the buffer spring because who ever was shooting it had the buffer in backwards
This is like Mark At Anvil. I'm in to the end !!!
THATS A CALIFORNIA " COMPLIANT " PISTOL GRIP ………
