Tomorrow, at 9:00AM, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors will consider agenda Item 15 (starts on page 28), by Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer and Chair Nathan Fletcher, to consider directing the county to join in lawsuits against the firearm industry. Please contact the supervisors and ask them to OPPOSE Item 15 on the agenda: “Actions to Stem the Tide of Gun Violence In our Communities.”

The firearm industry is already highly regulated through federal and state laws, with violations carrying stiff penalties. The federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA) does not prohibit lawsuits against the firearm industry for knowingly unlawful sales, for negligent entrustment, and on traditional products liability grounds. Not once in the proposal does it allege any of these violations. Further, the proposal is seeking input on ways to initiate litigation against manufacturers. This proposal is clearly designed to deflect blame on criminal misuse of lawful products in an effort to harass the industry.

Again, please contact the supervisors and ask them to OPPOSE using your taxpayer money to virtue signal against your rights.
