I guess that makes sense, BUIS…I get it. I'm not sure how an EOTech could fail but I guess it's always better to be prepared than dead…
You wouldn't use them at the same time in a normal situation. But if your Eotech fails for some reason, you would flip up your iron sights so you still have the ability to aim. Co-witness really allows both the optic and your iron sights to share the same zero calibration. So if you had to switch to iron sights, they're adjusted to where your digital optic was looking. You don't want to have to adjust them under stress, or have them adjusted so you would need to shift your weapon to compensate.
I've never understood the point of co-witness. If you are going to use iron sights then use iron sights, if you are going to use optics then use optics. Co-witness just blocks/limits your field of view in a really expensive optic like the EOTech. Someone please enlihgten me…
what kind of folding rear sight is that?
I have the Magpul mbus rear irons as a flip up but the front sight for just that reason. Front sight is a static A2 style sight that lines up perfectly with the MOE reticle of my eotech 552. For daytime shooting the two work surprisingly good for conjunction long range shooting. For 3 gun shoot though I pretty much ignore the front post since accuracy at that range is not needed. Never have any need to deploy the rear irons and will probably remove it when I buy the magnifier.
Alot of people me included find that 1/3 witness is preferred. It allows you to use the holosight/red-dot unobstructed, and drop down into the irons if needed.
why do you ant the holographic above the front sign instead of cowitnessing?
