In today’s Muddy Rifle Test we look to determine which rifle will perform best in a muddy environment. The test gets progressively more difficult the further the video goes along. The results definitely surprised us and I hope you will enjoy the content and results we got from this video.

Really love these tests shows absolutely worst case scenario
wow
Mate.. I'm just glad I'm not cleaning all that..
With all due respect, this is not AKM, nor AK-105 never mind markings.. Romanian maybe one of best clones, but still far from original – look at this recoil spring.
Ak105 is also far from original mil-grade one, more like Saiga. It lake 3 things – mil barrel, auto fire and, first of all – modern mil ammo. Modern ammo is not available even in RU for civilian shooters btw)). And it has big difference with commercial, AP's able to penetrate APC's armour.
this AUG will never be white again
If the bullet cant eject you have a malfunction 100% of the time.
This proves the AR is a pig. It like to wallow in mud.
next up submerged those bad boys in hot n cold water
Given how long the guns had to sit freezing in order to induce failures (it was so dark in that video and so late at night), I think this mud test, while also absurdly rough on the guns, is more compelling.
Takeaways are:
1. Don't use an M14.
2. Keep your guns (somewhat) warm and not frozen.
3. Always best to shake off any mud on your gun (duh).
4. AKs (and similar platforms touting "loose tolerances") let more crud in than ARs (and other similar modern platforms that are quite well sealed).
5. AKs have larger, chunkier moving parts with more space between them to let ice expand without locking it up, but if you follow (2), you won't have to worry about this.
6. Don't use an M14.
However, with the exception of the M14, I think pretty much any one of them will serve you well if you take care of it and know how to deal with the situation (i.e. train). Just don't believe the internet myths (and Russian propaganda) about AKs.
nothing to see here, just a responsible gun owner taking his guns out for a spa day
I wanna see a frozen mud test dam it
Hey make a video like this and the snow video but with handguns; M9, 1911, Glock, etc.
Ar's are more reliable than ak's, IF you keep good care of them. Ak's you can just abuse the crap out of and they still run fine
Does anybody know what town in Washington he is from?
I’m a geography nerd from Washington so I’m just really curious.
Those poor, poor optics
25:35 I think the issue there was the reciprocating charging handle.
I’m VERY curious how rifles with nonreciprocating charging handles would perform now.
The DI ARs vent gas from the bolt carrier which will help clear the mud, whereas the piston driven ones don't so you get that same malfunction with the stuck case.
M14 fans: "M14 didn't work only because you put too little mud on it!"
Good luck cleaning up the optics
All DIs… (like me) Whos your daddy??!?
somebody better make a "that ass can fart " meme
19:23 AK Lord is gonna be pissed. Okay chat let’s draw up a new meme.
all weapons are ok in this test… only idiot will shoot with so much mud on the gun…
Big thumbs up for not only making your guns muddy but also having scopes and muzzle stuff and lasers get dirty. Like… They don't really influence whether a gun will work or not, but it's nice to see them take part in the test and your cleaning too.
Anybody who believes the an M-14 is any bit more reliable than a Fallout 4 Pipe Pistol is insane and I can't believe they believe themselves.
Great Video!!! People often criticize the direct gas impingement system of the AR15 because it blows powder residue into the action, but I have always argued that the DI system also blows junk out of the action. This video clearly supports that same conclusion. Powder residue is so fine that in all but the most neglected conditions poses little threat to functionality.
14:20 Did he change his gloves?
Okay, I’m judging you for your sparkling water choice.
You didn't do the second(second) test for the jim fuller ak-105.
This is bullshit, I had my pants down ready to go thinking he was going to tactical dive into the mud with the rifle and be covered.
as someone who took a dive into a muddy icy afghan field with an M249 i can confirm it wouldn’t like this test 🤣
9:35 There’s a reason the US should have chosen the FAL.
It's actually more of how much mud can get into the rifle and not how the gun works in case of muddy situations.
But where is the URGI?? I need the data to add to my PowerPoint that justifies my purchases to my wife, therapist, and accountant!!!
Does anybody know what Hydration Carrier he is using? 🙂
What was the point of punishing the optics and tactical devices? Just seems so much more work having to clean those up. Hopefully you had sauna ready after that fun 🙂
di guns blowing the mud out of the way and self cleaning almost. awesome.
