Guns of Tarkov: Is the M4 / AR-15 Platform & HK416 Realistic?

Pick up a Pizza Supreme with everything on it and a case of Red Bull® because we’re talking about the depiction of the AR-15 / M4 and HK416 rifles in the video game “Escape from Tarkov.” Our guides are again Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant and his special guest video gamer, Twitch streamer, and YouTuber Jesse Halteman, aka JesseKazam. Tarkov’s extremely realistic depiction of firearms sets it apart from a lot of other video games. The AR-15 and its derivatives like the M4 are popular with Tarkov players after they’ve amassed enough in-game “money” to buy better weapons, and the Heckler & Koch HK416 is the crème de la crème of Tarkov’s AR-platform guns.

Just like in real life, customizing an AR-15 gives a Tarkov player advantages, and Caleb is kinda blown away by the detail and “ridiculous” number of parts available in the game’s weapon-building system. This is because many video game developers, including one of Tarkov’s lead developers “Kiba,” are gun people. But you can’t go crazy; you have to spend your in-game money wisely on gun mods or you’ll go broke. This is sounding a LOT like having a new edition of the Brownells Big Book and a credit card in your hands!

The guys give us a rundown on Escape from Tarkov’s suppressor and optics options. Caleb likes being able to use in the game the Trijicon LPVO and EOTech Vudu he prefers on his real-life guns. Jesse explains the role of “ergo” – ergonomics – in the game. Just like IRL, making an ergo upgrade to your gun helps improve your stamina. If you choose the biggest, heaviest, most powerful gun, you will pay a penalty in reduced stamina.

  1. What is this ridiculous allure of the HK416 versus the myriad of other AR platforms on the market?

Am I missing something here because I am not a twenty-something millennial steeped in comic books, video games and social media?

    Genuinely curious.

    Stay classy my friends.

  2. I remember picking up an HK416 in tarkov I didn't know about the parts not being interchangeable with AR/M4 I wasted a lot of money on those attachments. Games and youtube have been that kickstart for me when learning guns , optics etc

  3. I'm not going to watch this video because it's something about a movie or game I can't stand that stupid crap but I did comment on your video to give you some kind of props I'm not going to like it I will not like this video because it's something about a game or a video

  4. Cool to see this crossover.
I bought an slr106f because it was my favorite gun in tarkov. Its my only tacticool gun because I have boomer tastes. 😂
When will you guys start making the xm177 again, i need one.

  5. Just a pet peeve but I hate when people say "high capacity mags" because most people don't realize that a NATO STANAG(standardized agreement) capacity is 30 rounds. Meaning that the standard capacity for an AR/M4 pattern rifle is 30 rounds.

  6. Hey, I have a question. Is the HK 416 just as uncontrollable with a shorter barrel compared to the m4 in real life? The HK has been my go to weapon for over 5 wipes and especially with the latest 2 I feel like I'm forced to run the 20inch barrel more and more because of recoil. With the m4 however Ive been running shorter barrels lately because the recoil change isn't as much with a barrel swap and the ergo is worth far more to me. I just don't understand why the 416 gets such a huge bump in recoil changing the 20 inch barrel to a 16.5 or smaller. Would you mind explaining?

  7. Caleb, you should try playing squad sometime. Its very realistic as far as the guns. Its not centered around the guns like tarkov, but its very detailed and realistic full scale team oriented warfare thats a little more accessible than something like ArmA. You may like it if you have a military background.

  8. I like that Jesse admittedly doesn't know everything about firearms and he is sort of learning in the shop IRL versus Caleb probably doesn't have as much time to spend in game because he's working with guns all the time but they are united through the respect of firearms and Escape From Tarkov

  9. It interesting how tarkov has influenced gun owners and airsoft players.

I've noticed that the AK atform in both areas has seen increased popularity as well as increased use of proper and more fitting attachments. More zenitco, more tasteful choices of accessories and optics.

I took my airsoft 104 clone to a game and a kid came up and said that's like a gun from Tarkov. 😆
