I've built many and have bought a few ranging from 400 – 2300 dollars and ill tell ya what the spikes out of the box and the last (no name) i built is better than anything ive hand my hands on even the Colts I fired while serving … Yes I do my own trigger work and I always polish surfaces and loading ramps that need it (they all need it) … I have a rule though NO AFTER MARKET DROP IN TRIGGERS ..

He is correct most AR pattern rifles are built to contend with the use an average gun owner will ever put it through.

Depends on the use. What the purpose of the rifle is. Accuracy and max durability might be different barrels. I would say barrel and bolt, carrier and trigger are the big differences. Mainly regarding round count.

Which ar manufacturers are better than others is like the classic which is better Chevy ford or dodge convoy. Everyone has their pick, they all are tools to do 1 job

Buy whatever you can afford. Owning something that the gun grabbing socialist/liberals don't want you to have is gratifying in and of itself.

This a very subjective topic. To some degree you get what you pay for so don't buy the cheapest or most expensive rifles. Go with something in the mid price range. For everyday shooting most of us won't have any issues with an entry level rifle. I have changed triggers and barrels. They do make adifference. I like PSA rifles but you need to get one with an enhanced trigger and I like their pencil barrel. It lowers the weight of the gun.

I run LMT. I always thought a nice gun is a nice gun, but LMT is in a different better league.

Barrel material,finish..i.e. chrome lining,melonite, parkerizing ,the quality of the machining,the barrel extension ,gas port size and location…all of these factors on the barrel alone will dictate the use , longevity ,accuracy and reliability on only one aspect of the finished product …the bcg is also extremely important to the above mentioned factors…materials,tolerances ,finish and qc ( all of these are important factors to consider on every component as well as proper assemly )
Checking tolerances on all components is very important…entry level guns pay less attention to all the above mentioned things whereas higher end guns pay far closer attention to materials,testing and qc…in comparing a ruger or basic level M&P to a bravo company or daniel defense is going to require looking at all of the above factors…to the casual shooter these things may not be important, but to someone who shoots a lot or uses an ar for life and liberty or as a lifesaving tool ,will make a difference in their selection of components for a build or finished rifles while your take is not incorrect it is very over simplified…in the end ,you should examine your intended use for the gun and base your choices on that

Interesting, not sure what you mean by recoiling barrel ? Is there some sort of spring or other mechanism which allows the barrel to move straight back within the stock to absorb recoil?

MOST would agree that regarding the ‘mil spec’ AR..internally, the TRIGGER should be changed out first. FN is known for great mass-produced barrels across the industry…

I have both, a free floating barrel and a regular MOE upper with the fixed front sight. I do agree the barrel and the trigger makes a difference but so does the ammo you select and what you designed that gun for. A 16” MOE upper is a general all around weapon but that 22” Bushmaster with a long range scope in this video has a specific purpose. That’s the beauty of the modern sporting rifle.

My first rifle was a M1 Garand. After 20 years, I'm still buying a M1 Garand. If we colonize the Moon and Mars. With all the sand, I'll bring with me my M1 Garand. If not an AK-47. A Tetris AR-15 can stay home. Don't get me wrong, I shoot thousands of rounds of M16s and AR-15s just don't own one.

Feed ramp designs seem to help as they have changed over the years, but as you said, the upper and the trigger make the difference!

Bushmaster became Windham Weaponry. I bought a WW HBar Dissapator chrome lined barrel. I was able to build a decent battle rifle for around $1k. I also bought a CMMG 22lr conversion kit. Do you own any shotguns? I never hear you talk about shotguns.

The bolt is very important too. The AR is supposed to be a battle rifle. You don't want a sniper/target trigger on a battle rifle. Just order a PSA kit when it's free shipping.

The difference between a $300 and a $2000 deer rifle would equal about 10-15% better accuracy at a normal 3 to 400 yards, I feel it's the same with the AR platform, to get one nicer cost a lot of money and the gain is marginal marginal, God bless
