The Russian Special Operations or Spetsnaz AK 102 / 105 has been seen over and over in operations in the Middle East and Ukraine. While overseas in some countries, these builds are still easily attainable, with import restrictions, and foreign production (for US sales) decreasing, we find ourselves wondering what we could do to familiarize ourselves to the “Russian Alpha AK”.
Introducing the “Alpha Trainer”; an ongoing project that Josh is working on with this AK build with parts that are widely accessible and non-NFA binding (as of right now), to layout a blueprint for the North American shooter to experience what the Russians have been working on with their AK systems.
This build yields something comparable to what we have been seeing various Spetsnaz groups working with, while consuming US 5.56 cartridges and various US Domestic components, parts, and abiding by US local firearms laws.
The “Alpha Trainer” is meant to be a living project to continuously adapt US parts that are comparable and make sense to use. This is intended as a host to experiment with many different accessories.
In this episode, Josh takes us to the service rifle range to see how this “Alpha Trainer” concept rifle performs so far!

Would like to see AK 107
Try the Romeo4. Its bdc reticle is close enough to get me hits out to 500 with my 10.5 5.56
specs on rifle?
So a U.S. built AK in 5.56, with minimal maint, and a suppressor not designed for the AK, underperformed… colour me shocked
I love it
Astigmatism here, I use an Aimpoint pro , smeared reticle without glasses. Using glasses helps a lot, eventually I'll have to go to an LPVO. I previously used a Primary Arms Cyclops which worked ok. Older eyes suck.
Noone mentions how it say its 13.5lbs 😂
AK105 5.45 iron sight.
Great shooting IMO. Shit can that Eotech and put a real optic on it and you will be money. Plus start at 500 and go backwards much easier when your heating that barrel up.
13.5 pounds that's weight training
The fact he was stretching a red dot without a magnifier out to past 250 yards is nothing more then him flexing his marksman on us
What spotting scope is this?
please in the next videos as well, so be positioned (the observer is right behind the shooter) because you can see the projectile so beautifully, it’s very spectacular.
im not sure if you adjusted the intensity of your sight but lowering the brightness of the EOtech to the point of being nearly visible helps with getting more accurate sight picture and hold. ( for me atleast)
Would've much rather seen a 5.45×39 or 7.62×39
I have much better performance with Federal m193. That, and a proper optic so we can see what the gun can do regardless of your limited eyesight.
556 AKs suck stick with 545 an 762
🤔 if someone were to produce this gun…..so that people could 🤗 buy them
Set up directly behind shooter! Finally some good trace. Hope you’ll set up like this more often.
I'm really glad I used one that a friend had before I wasted my money on a holo.
