Help Me Build My AR15 – What AR Upper Should I Choose

Help me select the proper upper receiver assembly for my latest AR15 project. This is the start of completing my last AR lower receiver and I have not yet decided what components I will use. Should I build another AR pistol, an AR carbine, a big-bore AR, an AR hunting rifle, or something different. I discuss the 5 options I am looking at but these are far from what can be done with the lego gun we call the AR-15.

  1. I would go 300 BLK. Huge variety of loads. I'm really considering building a 300 BLK pistol for home defense w/supressor. Heavy sub-sonic loads for defense, and easy to switch to supersonic for long distance, hunting, etc.

  2. you know you want a .50cal Beo,
it hits like a truckload of George Foreman grills at a grill cheese convention. the big bore stuff will probably wear out the lowers but that's part of it. I would build a 6.5 and get some scope time on it. hitting anything at long range is very satisfying! great video brother.

  3. Walmarts in CO and NM have 300blk Barnes made but UMC branded 120gr at about $16/20. I am happy with my 10.5" 300blk but I wasn't cross shopping with larger case head cartridges mainly because of the cost of the barrels, bolts and magazines.

    I would say 458SOCOM or 6.5 Grendel.
If I had the money I always thought a DI 10mm magnum would be cool, after all it would just use a a 6.8spc bolt.
