This weaver railed riser is a good basic way to allow you to have a basic scope mounted onto your AR-15 while maintaining a good eye relief and cheek weld.

  1. Thanks for this, I've had my AR for about a month and love it, but I bought a Bugbuster scope and realized I need a riser. Is a cheek riser necessary, or is it working well for you as is?

  2. Not sure if you still look at this video's comments or not. I don't want to use a riser I just want to mount directly on the rail thing is I got a 40mm scope so the end you don't look through is 40mm in diameter and it touches the plastic if it were up a little bit more it wouldn't be touching would a offset cantilever mount fix that as the mount I have now is 2 separate rings 1in and for the picatinny rail?

  3. Cheap scope risers are just the tip of the iceberg of what we use in YPG. It is a bit ridiculous though. 90% of all our attachments, vests and molle pouches are cheap air soft stuff.

  4. Thanks guys. IN case anyone needs an inexpensive picatiny rail mount for their AR-15 carry handle I found this
NCStar mount on Ebay for $6.95 free shipping from California. Works great for my Field Sport Micro Red Dot sight to sit on.

I got it here in NC in 5 days and it looks fine. Solid piece of aluminum with beefy thumb screws.
It allows for use of your iron sights.

If you are going retro with your AR build like I was and you need an M-16A1 gov surplus used butt stock
I found a great one ( with steel trap door in butt plate ) at Numrich for $21.85. It is used but all the better.
It looks just like the one I had in the Army in the 70's and 80's.

  5. KISS rules, and cheap that works fits right in. I happen to agree with that. My own AR is not the type of battle rifle that I would want If I were in a combat zone, but it would do the job for awhile–hopefully save my ass. I watched a video by iraqveteran8888 where he tried to destroy a 416 by shooting an ENORMOUS amount of ammo through it in full auto and was unsuccessful…THAT is the kind of rifle I would want in a full on battle. But the reality is that I do not have enough ammo to cause a problem in my Del-Ton sport. I do have enough to make it extremely hot and stink…lol! But in the first place, I can't own a 416 anyway, and even if I could–I could not afford it. So cheap and me are good buddies.

  6. Cheap gear suggestion: A cheapie .223 casing shaped laser that you can get a (rough) zero without having to use ammo. I got one on ebay for like $7 shipped to my door, and it works a charm.
