Taking a look at the proper method to remove a factory installed free float quad rail. This is example is the Yankee Hill Machine which was ordered when I procured my trusty RRA Varmint. We alos talk about function and ideology of how these rails need to be indexed and torqued.

The use of loctite on the barrel nut is "Bubba's" bandaid for people who don't invest in a bench vise and block to immobilize their receivers, and then wonder why they can't torque to spec just holding the receiver. The CORRECT method is to grease the threads, use an armorer's block and vise, and torque to between 35 and 80 foot lbs. You should not be spreading misinformation like this, people will believe it. I don't care what manufacturer uses this practice, it is incorrect and can lead to damage or even destruction of the upper.

  2. I thought that I finally found a video that was going to show how to remove a factory installed quad rail. Like you said there are not many videos out there.

    So we go thru removing the gas block, and blah blah; then what I would think would be one of the most important steps; loosening the nut so you can unscrew the quad rail………. then bam, holy fucken shit you skipped it and then showed it already loose; dude wtf? Why wood you do that? Why not skip the gas block and gas tube, I mean that's pretty much self explanatory! At least show the fucken tool u used to loosen the nut! Jesus H Christ!

    Sorry for being a dick but I don't even know what to say.

  3. Yes Sir, I agree. I've seen receivers get hopelessly bent trying to break factory installed nuts. Its a lot easier to destroy your gun than people think. Its almost comical how hard they are to break and with 20 seconds of some strategically applied heat and they almost come off by hand….lol
