ATF is publishing the objective factors it considers when evaluating firearms with an attached stabilizing brace to determine whether they are considered firearms under the National Firearms Act (NFA) and/or the Gun Control Act.
ATF publishes this notice to inform and invite comment from the industry and public on the proposed guidance prior to issuing a final document. Upon issuance of final guidance, ATF will provide additional information to aid persons and companies in complying with federal laws and regulations.
This notice also outlines ATF’s enforcement priorities regarding persons who, prior to publication of this notice, made or acquired, in good faith, firearms equipped with a stabilized brace.
Finally, this notice previews ATF’s and the Department of Justice’s plan to subsequently implement a separate process for current possessors of stabilizer-equipped firearms to choose to register such firearms in compliance with the NFA, including an expedited application process and the retroactive exemption of such firearms from the collection of NFA taxes.

What needs to be done is the launch of a Grassroots movement to repeal the National Firearms Act of 1934.
Another law that needs to be removed and repealed is the gun control Act of 1968
It's a simple Dynamic once we get rid of these two laws on the books by repealing them then it ain't going to matter what kind of a gun you own or possess because you'll be free to do what you want instead of worrying about a gun brace. The ATF has absolutely no oversight. They also cost a lot of taxpayers' dollars to keep running and frequently do embarrassing things. There's been a lot of bipartisan chatter for a while about cleaning the mess up and maybe spinning control of firearms off to the FBI (which isn't as easily swayed by ephemeral political fashion on any given day). Sleepy Joe, as per his website that outlines his "positions" on various things, wants to overhaul the ATF. Given, however, that he was a huge proponent of the Brady Bill, it probably won't be in a good or meaningful way.
Yesterday I sent messages to all of Texas’ national senators and state representatives encouraging them to continue the fight against those who would do away with the 2nd Ammendment. This morning I find that I am barred from further communication with either Cornyn or Cruz via their websites. This is a little concerning. So, I sent the following message via Facebook. We’ll see if it gets through.
Senator Cruz, yesterday, November 12th, I wrote to you, via your congressional website, encouraging you to continue the fight against the anti-gun cadre’s assault on the 2nd amendment and our rights as Americans to keep and bear arms. This morning I find that I am barred from sending further messages to you through this channel. So, am I to assume that now freedom of speech and communication with our political representatives is prohibited? Please investigate, this is a dangerous junction we stand at!
The ATF has put regulations on possession of SBRs, SBSs, etc. without any legitimate reason. The reasoning for the ban was because it was believed that these weapons were the choice of criminals and were somehow more dangerous. These are old laws. Just like when switchblades were banned back in the 50s because they were scary to everyone. Switchblades are no more dangerous than any other knife and in a lot of places the ban is no longer in effect. The ATF needs major re-evaluation.
