CMMG RipBrace: Quick, Light, Comfortable AR 15 Pistol Brace

CMMG has released a new AR 15 pistol brace, the RipBrace. Let’s take a close look at its features and shape.

The CMMG Banshee 9mm is an AR 15 pistol. Sort-of. Wait for the full review, because the engineers at CMMG came up with a revolutionary action that avoids the problems of both direct blowback and direct gas impingement. But that’s a conversation for another day. For now, we’re concentrating on the butt end of the pistol, which formerly shipped with a Gear Head Works Tailhook Mod 2 pistol brace. Now if you order the Banshee it will arrive with the new CMMG RipBrace.

The RipBrace uses velcro and a flexible aperture to attach to the user’s forearm. If, however, you intend to shoulder the brace, the Rip Brace has a rubber butt and a relatively comfortable shape for the shoulder. This Micro/CQB RipBrace is very compact and lightweight. The RipBrace has one last party trick, too. You can install an included bolt to set your perfect length of pull.If you want an extra inch of length-of-pull, check out the Standard RipBrace.

The new CMMG Banshee 300 will ship with the RipBrace from now on. You can also buy it from their store if you want it for your own AR pistol. When comparing prices and specs between the different AR pistol braces out there, remember to factor in the parts that come in the package. The RipBrace includes the buffer tube, compact buffer, tuned buffer spring, ambi sling attachment point, and castle nut.
