Lmao hey shadetree armourer what was the final torque spec? Ha ha ha ha ha…….
:]
Head space??? Did you do it after
ar 15 barrel fits into and m16a1?
I talked to half a dozen manufacturers of AR15 rifles. Only one used Dow Molycoat G-4700. Another used plain Lithium Grease and the others used oils or stated "a Rust Preventative suggested, but not necessary because of the finish on the Upper Receiver". I read a 1962 article where Army felt that the oil can be squeezed out of the soap, separating a Moly ingredient and actually causing wear. The folks on AR15.com are using dated (possible old) information. What does it tell you? I suggest you google "Tour Windhem Weapontry and you will see plain oil being used. Small incremental loosening with alternate snugging without a torque wrench. No Clamshell Upper Receiver Vice, along with a Giselle Reaction Rod Breach Fixture mounted to a table being used. The Reaction Rod stabilizes the barrel and is far superior method. Moly 60 – that bad for painted surfaces? ARMORER1911 (Colt M16 Certified Armorer)
BTW – Colt uses regular oil to lube the threads and has built the rifles for half a century!
@kronik2800 it's called an action block. I got mine from Brownells.
What's the name of the housing block that you lay the gun inside so the vise doesn't crush the upper?
