Senate Bill 484, sponsored by Senator Bob Ballinger and Representative Aaron Pilkington, would remove the ambiguous and confusing language in Arkansas’ current duty to retreat statute. As previously reported, this legislation will explicitly state that law-abiding citizens do not have the duty to retreat when exercising their right to self-defense.
This bill failed to pass out of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Now, it is important for your Senator to hear from you. Please contact your Senator and tell them that you want the Senate to bring this important self-defense legislation to the floor for a vote.
