Aimpoint sights are renowned for their unrivaled reliability, their simple and user friendly design, their technology to reduce parallax, and for their speed on target. Whether you are military, law enforcement, a contractor, or a civilian, Aimpoint sights rise above all others for close quarters engagements.

In this video I pick two of the aforementioned variables to speak on, namely, reliability and speed. I have tested these sights extensively over the last 15 years in training and in real-world combat to conclude that these sights are truly ones you can trust your life with; As Larry Vickers says, “there is Aimpoint, and then there is everything else.”

Guns and gear shown in this video:
(1) Daniel Defense mk18 with an Aimpoint T2, a 3x-C magnifier on a twistmount base, a Gemtech can, a surefire Scout light, and a Blue Force Gear Vickers sling.
(2) Daniel Defense v11 with an Aimpoint Comp-M4s
(3) Daniel Defense v11 with an Aimpoint Pro and Surefire x300 Ultra

  1. Must admit, after picking up an Aimpoint PRO, I'm impressed. You can just tell that it's overbuilt for anything horrendous that you can throw at it. Plus, the stock base is excellent on the PRO. Not to seem crass, but it's like a slightly older biker gal whose been around the scene for more than awhile. Far from beauty queen contender status. Tough, rugged, you can count on her in a fight if you're severely outnumbered. And horrible irony most of all…. Can take a lot of physical abuse, and is used to it. If Aimpoints were people….

I hate it how folks make fun of Aimpoint's pricing and where the company is located. Heck, Glocks are originally from Austria. No one makes fun of that. As for prices, well; if you don't need something that can work after being dropped off of a cliff, hitting rocks on the way down; or surviving a house fire. Okay, any inexpensive optic will likely work perfectly well for the occasional trip to the local range. Aimpoints aren't for everyone. But for $400 anyone can get an Aimpoint (ACO). That price competes with the upper-end offerings from secondary optic brands like Holosun, and Vortex. ACO comes with a mount included and again, it's an Aimpoint. (I have models from both Holosun and Vortex. So, no hate from me. But I'm not going to pretend that they make sights just as good as an Aimpoint.)

I do like my Trijicon MRO. It's about the size of an Aimpoint T2. And I don't think anyone has ever complained about the MRO not being tough or reliable. So likely won't ever pick up a T2. But that Comp M4 looks fantastic for a red dot that takes common batteries! And if I'm honest, if I could only keep one red dot optic in my very humble collection, it would be a very tough choice between my lone Trijicon or my lone Aimpoint. Though ultimately, the Aimpoint would likely get the nod. (Maybe I should save up for a T2 after all.)

  2. Chevron over dot anyday for me but thats just my personal preference. Btw John, I really like what you’ve done with the place! Barrels, lamps, targets! What else could a man want in a dream home

  3. Hey john im a huge a fan. Love all your vids!! Keep up the great work. And thank you for your service!! So watching this video I see you have about 3 or 4 Daniel defense rifles. Is dd your favorite rifle?? If so why do you like dd rifles. I’m gonna be buying another rifle and I’m down to 2 options. Bcm or Daniel. I’m leaning towards bcm but still haven’t made up my mind. If you could help me out and give me your 2 cents on this I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks

  4. How important is red dot magnification? I bought my first AR 2 weeks ago and have some money budgeted for a red dot, although not enough for an Aimpoint. Better to get a higher quality red dot or a lower quality red dot plus a magnifier?

  5. thanks for all you teach I am a marine, security guard, and working on becoming a member of law enforcement. To hear you talk about your faith along with different training is encouraging and strengthens me to never give up.

  6. I’ve beat the snot out of my pro for years pig hunting wet back of pickup truck dropped countless times and it’s still on and same battery if there’s something better I haven’t seen it yet

  7. John, I know this is older video. Was just wondering which supressor that is. I'm guess a Gemtech due to the sign in your kill house there…but which model? And one more thing…How do you keep your can so damn clean!?!? Keep it up brother!

  8. Greetings John, I also have the same model of Daniel Defense as yours. It has Troy b.u.i.s. and a Leupold 1.5-5×20 with a German number four reticle. The mount is a LaRue. I recently put in hits on a football sized rock at 445 yards. I will shoot it some more a little further before I install Daniel Defense fixed sights and an Aimpoint. That is what the rifle was intended to do. Is there any reason to train with an AR style .22 LR ? I have one with an EOTECH 512 on it.
