  1. The desert is beautiful but I will take the Cascades or the Hoh any day, I love my state (even though the Libtards are ruining the Politics) WA and the PNW is where I grew up and I don't see myself leaving. The great thing about WA is we have both the Green, wet, Rainforest side, the Mountains, and the East is more baron, hot, desert. The biggest problem with WA is the Dems, they have taxed everything and then some, and between them and the tech industry it's making the cost of living here skyrocket. House prices in Seattle are insane, what would go for $250,000 10 years ago is now over a Million, I saw a shack for 1.6 million listed the other day, but it had a great view of downtown and was withing biking distance (that's a big selling point, eventually Cars will be outlawed in Seattle).

  2. Just like home- I grew up in Utah and we spent our time between the high mountains and the desert- this video reminds me of weekends running wild as kids and scout camps. Juniper and sage desert has its own beauty. The pine nuts are good eating and most juniper is fine to eat, just very astringent. The juniper bark is amazing stuff, good for fire lighting, cordage, shelter building, hammocks, and basketry. I'm glad you enjoyed it out there!

  3. Love the gear reviews. Just letting you know. After many moons between leathermen oht and Gerber center drive I have gone with the oht. Thank you for the reviews. Also just ordered my Canadian bug roll. Thank you Adam.

  4. Welcome to our side of the country Tim. Here on the ID/NV/UT tri state border high desert.
    Beautiful country isn't it?

Moved here in 1998 from Boston – best thing we ever did.

  5. Well Tim, as I was born and lived the 1st 17 years of my life in the great lakes region of NH, I now live in the low basin desert in Arizona, biggest advice from me, is stay active at night and rest (wherever you can find shade) during the day, have not been back to NH since 2015, but am planning a trip again by 2020, I try and go about every 5 years.

  6. Yes, as Squirrel Saga said, that's juniper bark. And, as BushcraftNBaseball said, those pinon nuts are wonderful to eat. I'm just seconding their comments. BTW, if you can find some New Mexico Pinon coffee, they mix the nuts with coffee and it's fantastic! Here's a link JIC you have any interest: https://nmpinoncoffee.com/
