EOTECH XPS Reticle

I went out and shot some .22 ammo out of my Spikes tactical conversion kit and decided to do a quick vid of the EOTECH as well.

View ST .22 Con-kit here:

I like the fact that if you are on the other end of the business end of a rifle with a EOTECH you will not be seeing the “Red Dot” reticle, I like this! Its only able to be viewed from behind.

This is the EOTECH XPS2-0 The 2 series is NOT night vision (NV) compatible according to the manufacture (L3) the 3 series are but expect to pay $80-$100 more just for the NV capability so if you are not worried about using NV save yourself some extra cash (which is what I did).

This optic is very easy to use and makes it EXTREMELY easy to get on and stay on target.

-Has a 0- 65MOA circle with 1 MOA aiming dot in the middle (MOA = minute-of-angle)

-Takes a Single 123 size battery

-Submersible to 33 ft

-Length/Width/Height: 3.75 x 2.4 x 2.4

  1. The purpose of red dot is to allow you to acquire target faster with a wider angle of access. It is not necessary to still do the line up process with iron sights. I guess it's just personal preference.

  2. CNConnor is right, Glenn, the point of running iron sights as well as the EOTech (aimpoint, or other optics) is so if the optic fails you can resort back to iron sights. However, this is not my setup anylonger. I built a 16inch piston with flip up iron sights so its still co-witnessed you just wont see the irons in the view of the optic unless you need to.

  3. @Levij83 Thanks man, yeah it is alright with having the front sight in the field of view, half the time I never noticed it. However I have since built a new rifle that is running the EOTech that has QDS flip up sights so they are out of the way (will probably get a video up here soon)

  4. @sc3nt360 So it can co-witness, this is for if the optic would fail, typically people take the carry handle off and use a RBUIS (Rear Back Up Iron Sight) however with a full length AR I feel that its more balanced with the carry handle. I may change it up later on.

  5. @jawara105 Its Something you have to get used to, however if you are looking past it like you are supposed to then it doesn't make a difference. IF you are running flat's with a popup front and rear BUIS thats Ideal but I like being able to have Irons right there if my battery fails.

  6. @diverguy2583 When I found this deal and I was ecstatic!

My buddy is picking up a Vortex Strikefire so I'll probably do a video on that.

The EOTech is more accurate with .223/5.56 instead of .22 but .22 is a great training tool

  7. @fatboyR6 Yeah man, (thought I replied to this a while ago) I'm still debating on getting a rear flip up site, I really want to do a 16 inch build (or completed upper and lower) when I get a little extra cash. So I don't want to do too much to this rifle because It won't be my "go to gun" once I get the 16, I love the 20 for accuracy but it is heavy.

  8. @diverguy2583 Great! I've had a little over a thousand rounds through it and still going strong. My buddy is getting one of the new CMMG .22 Conversion kits so we are going to try and put the same number of rounds through his and I'd like to do a video to compare the two.

  9. @Starstreak817 I cant remember what the name of the song is…. I believe its something I got from a royalty free music website but I'd have to check to be sure….
I know what you mean about the battery, one of the reasons I went with the XPS with the 123 batteries is because I didn't want to carry different batteries on me my weapons light, EDC flashlight, and optic all have the same battery granted the others are easier to scavenge for I wanted to keep them all the same.

  10. Fuckin nice dude!!!! That is a sweet co-witness set up. I see what your saying now. I have never seen one set up that way. It looks like it works great. If you get the magnifier, say good by to that carry handle though, and say hello to the clearest reticle ever!!!

  11. a Trijicon Acog is a great optic however it is in a different category then EOTech or Aimpoint. the Acog is a "Reach out and touch someone" type optic. A EOTech or Aimpoint is a non magnified "Close Quarter Battle" type optic, those two are also known a "Reflex Sites" because they are meant for fast target acquisition. Can you do that with a Magnified Acog, YES there are techniques however that is not what it was designed to do.

  12. Yup, that way If I my optic would fail (anything electronic WILL fail sometime, especially when you don't want it to)

I have yet to take the carry handle off, I need to pick up a RBUIS, but I'm holding off because I want to eventually pick up a 16'' carbine and put that on there so I'm not wanting to do alot to this rifle because I'd like to put it back to a "Kiss" Rifle once I get that.

I do like the idea of a more compact, lighter sight on the AR as they can become heavier as you load them down with accessories. I plan to use Troy Folding Battlesights so the smaller, low profile site make more sense for me.
My big concern is durabilty. You know how it is, some say EOTech, some say Aimpoint. But, you did your research and that makes it easier for me to purchase the EOTech. Any ideas for an online sore?
