Range review of CMMG‘s newest addition to the Guard / BANSHEE line, the Mk57. It’s a radial delayed blowback AR chambered in 5.7×28 and it uses FN Five-seveN magazines. Pretty sweet!

  1. Great video! Thank you! Can you post a link or give me the exact model number and full name, of that prism sight ?? and what riser is that for the sight? I have astigmatism , this looks perfect..thanks again

  2. Is there a practical reason to want one of these? I get that 9mm and .22LR are cheaper to shoot than .223 and can be shot at pistol targets and ranges where .223 cannot. But 5.7 ammo is more expensive and less available. Why choose it over .22LR or .223? Recoil is low and magazine capacity is high in an AR-15 in all of these chamberings. .22LR is by far the cheapest to shoot and .223/5.56mm is by far the most effective for self-defense. There are other AR-15 chamberings but unlike the 5.7 they each bring something valuable to the table, like subsonic performance in 300BLK and extended range in .224 Valkyrie. The advantages of 5.7mm is that it recoils less than 9mm, you can fit more in a magazine, and certain ammo has better armor penetration ability. None of those advantages hold up in an AR, where just about everyone can handle the recoil of a .223, it holds at least as many rounds as this mag, and it has superior terminal performance. Why, just why. I see all these videos on the 5.7 Banshee but no one is explaining why someone might want one, other than novelty. I'm not against novelty, I'm just wondering if there's a reason for their appeal that I didn't consider.

  3. If I want a 5.7 SBR, I'd get a P90. Yeah, I know you can get good drop in triggers for the AR or even a drop in auto sear, blah blah, but when you can shoot 5.56 from it instead of 5.7, why wouldn't you?
