I own this AR and got it for about $550 out the door about 2 years ago. To be fair, I bought it from an FFL dealer out of his home…private dealer. His cost was lower! I also have the detachable carry handle but I left it attached so I can use the iron sights. Fun to shoot and very accurate!
How much does this gun cost brand new?
Just a thought on using M855 green-tip 62 grain for home defense. If you live out in the country with no neighbors close to you – I can see using that round. However – if you're in a suburban or city location , I'd use a jacketed hollow point for home defense so that the bullet will shatter if you miss your target and not penetrate your neighbors walls. If you hit your target the bullet will break up into fragments inside him. Whereas a 62 grain M855 LAP will continue to penetrate him and keep on going – through walls , etc. A very high velocity round.
