  1. I'd always thought that an "optic" was anything with a lens, so a holographic sight and a scope were both different types of optics. But fair enough; I respect this video's definitions because I respect anyone who is expert enough to classify his tools with consistency. 🙂

  2. Anything you mount on your firearm for eye relief or any other use of vision is an optic
Optic – (n.)a lens or other optical component in an optical instrument.
Its just like saying a square is a rectangle but a rectangle cannot be a square. A scope is an optic but a red dot optic is not a scope.

  3. Why would you put your life on an Eotech ? My Eotech Exps3 broke for no reason a few months ago after 2 years and never cut back on. Still waiting on that refund check in the mail from them been almost 3 months since I sent it back to them to process refund.

  4. This guy is no fun now that he started using his Xanax. His older videos are very funny to watch because he was way too serious and crazy sounding. Check the out for a good laugh folks.

  5. I hear you on being a nomenclature Nazi – me too. But I have to ask – coming from a military background, how long did it take you before you could call a rifle a gun without feeling like you should get on down and knock 'em out? 🙂

  6. Im looking for a good setup for military optics. I was thinking if it might make more sence to put the reddot at an ange besides the scope rather on the left side. Because on the right you have the big scope obscuring your vision, and makes the left eye see big annoying silhouette of it and not proper focusing the eye, while on the left side you get a 90% clear field of view.

  7. Maybe you talked about this somewhere else, but I haven't found it yet, so I'll ask; @legallyconcealed is there a reason you have the Eotech riding really far back on your receiver (closer your eye) but the Aimpoint is near the front of the receiver? I've always run both toward the front, but I'm curious if there is a benefit that I'm not aware of.? Thank you and great videos!

  8. Optic ˈäptik

    adjective
    1. of or relating to the eye or vision.

    noun
    1. a lens or other optical component in an optical instrument.

Imho optics in regards to firearms, is a generic term regarding any accessory using the eye some sort of lens. What you are saying only makes sense if you don't consider the glass on a non magnified RD as a lens.

  9. Dude, you may actually be confusing your audience here with your terminology.
They are all "optics". An optic just means it has a lens. Go to say… the Vortex website. Their slogan is "the force of optics" yet almost all you see is scopes.

You are right though, if it is variable power it's a scope. Optic is just a general term.

  10. Nice configuration on the yote gun.
Say you had an AK with a G3 TWS railed dust cover, and you were going to hunt boar daytime with it. Some shots would be up close and personal, others distant. What options would you consider mounting?

  11. It seems like you really like eotechs. I was wondering what your opinion was on them with all the problems they were having with moa shifts when dealing with extreme heat and extreme cold?

  12. Umm, Steiner optics/Swarovski optik/Bushnell performance optics/Hi-Lux optics? Those are the companies official names. Optics are any sight using glass and some type of reticle.

All scopes are optics, not all optics are scopes.
