This video discuss what specific parts are need to build a 9mm AR-15 and what parts are the same as a typical 223 build. It is not a step-by-step how to video, but rather aimed at educating the viewer about what the differences are.

  1. I built my 9 mm AR as a carbine, using an Armalite barrel. It has the 1/2 X 28 thread, so I took a muzzle brake meant for a .223 rifle, and drilled out the exit hole with a 3/8 drill. It works perfectly. I know I don't need a muzzle brake on a 9 mm, but I didn't want to leave exposed threads, and already had the brake on hand.
A word of warning for those who may build a 9 mm AR on a polymer lower, using the Tork Mag magwell adapter (for Glock mags) – that adapter must be pinned in place because the set screws meant to hold it in place cause too much flex in the polymer units for the adapter parts to mount in correct alignment. But, once pinned in place in the proper locations, that adapter works very well. I'm pleased with mine.

  2. How is the C-products magazine works? I'm in the process of building an ar9 with colt mags. I've been shopping if what kind of mags I should buy…ASC brand , C-products or Metalform. Anyways, your video is very informative and well explained… Thank you!

  3. another route i found on barrel threading; i have built multiple uppers for a single register sbr lower. i built a 9mm upper for it also. i found a 5 inch 9mm barrel threaded for 5/8×24. this is the same thread on my 300 blackout out upper. so i only had to buy 1 fixed thread adapter for my suppressor. this also leaves more metal between the threads and the bore.

  4. I have been looking for a simple, straight forward description of the components and how to's. Great video for someone who is new to 9mm builds and needs a starting block. Thanks for putting this together!!

  5. You have any issues with double feeds? Couldn't get passed that problem with the magazine insert, after almost every cycle the bolt would try and strip 2 rounds out of the mag and jam everything up. Ended up switching to a glock lower, still have the inserts and mags and would love to get another build going.

  6. The 9mm bolt has a spring around the firing pin in the bolt. At least mine does. Have you had any issues or heard of any where the hammer fall in certain triggers isn't heavy enough to push the firing pin out all the way? Causing ftf or light primer strikes? I am running a Spinta Precision 9mm bolt and a CMC 3.5lb single stage flat bow drop in trigger.
