Briefly shooting the Rock River Arms PDS AR 15 Pistol. This is the model with the proprietary gas piston upper that enables removal of the typical AR recoil system. Equipped with an EOTECH optic (not sure of the model) and angled “foregrip” from Magpul. I do not own the gun but I am told that the angled grip does not disqualify this from being classified as a pistol. Not to be confused with Rock Island or RIA.

Convert it into a bullpup men
Where can i get the no buffer tube set up
the only way to run these “pistols” is the way no one else does. which is to put a for-grip on the side. so you can push into it to keep the climb down and cut on recoil.
Hey what's that part called that replaces the buffer tube? I don't know how piston driven ARs work, but I'm trying to build a pistol without a buffer tube.
OHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOHOOOO
i was thinking about running some 62-69 grain ammo.. ballistic wise, would this be ideal since the pds pistol is 8inch barrel?
You really can't have that mag grip unless it is a registered class 3. The mag grip add on is considered a vertical foregrip by the ATF making it an AOW. However the AFG is fine for a pistol.
Why would you have the front site up? Your optic must have been working considering your firearm had no rear site. Just looked odd wondering what the logic was there.
Man, I was an Armyfag for 5 years, and seeing a piston driven AR platform is almost taboo for me. Although, I have heard its far superior to gas driven platforms. But, I'll stick to muh AA gas driven 6.5 Grendel 🙂
There's also the ARAK-21 upper that mimics the AK action to eliminate need for buffer tube, but still uses an AR-15-esque bolt that's rounded to loosen tolerances and theoretically increase reliability.
I'd buy one if they made it from 7075 steel so that the walls could be thinner and thus lighter than it is. I still want to check one out.
Rock River and Ruger both make a piston driven AR without buffer tubes.
What proprietary piston systemnis that? I have never seen an AR without some kind of buffer tube. Nice video BTW.
