A complete and detailed installation of the Noveske NSR line of handguards. This high quality rail can be a little tricky to install properly. When finished, I don’t think there is a finer rail on the market currently.

  1. With 6 screws, the handguard won't rotate from the barrel nut. But, what if the barrel nut itself rotated? The pin help to prevent this case… From the traditional star type barrel nut, it won't rotate because it lock up with gas tube. So, handgund only lock up with nut is enough. But, this type of barrel nut doesn't lock up with anything (except the handgurd with 6 sctews) that can be 100% ensure that it won't rotate. That's why the hand guard must be locked up with receiver by using the small pin and this help to prevent the barrel nut rotation either.

  2. I thought the viltor mur receivers were one of the few that already have the hole in them for the anti rotation pin? Since they are the ones who make the rail? Thought that was like one of there main features?

  3. Very nice video with some great content.  You said that your barrel is a Ranier?  I'm just a novis at all this AR building.  Got a lot to learn.  Why did you go with a :Rifle" length gas block?  Is it because it would enable you to put an adjustable one on down the road?  And what did you mean by a "Dimpled" barrel?  That rail really looks good!  I'm looking for the "right" barrel fro me and want quality.  What in your experience separates the Noveske barrels from lets say Daniel Defense's barrels?  Thanks.

  4. FishOnTarget: It is recommended to install crush washers with the wide side toward the muzzle just as you say. I've installed them both ways before and have never had issues. I installed this one "backwards" on this particular rifle because the shape of the washer follows the SPR profile of the barrel better. You are right, typically if you are going to damage a part, you prefer to damage the least expensive part. I would recommend to builders that they install crush washers the traditional way, wide side toward the muzzle. Good pickup on noticing that. It's just something that works for me.

  5. Mack.  It looked like you oriented the crush washer incorrectly. The beveled, bowled, or curved edge should face out towards the flash hider.  This is the end that "crushes". Oriented incorrectly, the crush washers' sharp edge could dig into the metal of your expensive barrel.
