A walk through of the AR-308 lower build. I set a record with launching springs and detents 3 times. Didn’t lose any thank goodness. Lower receiver and LPK is from Palmetto State Armory.

  1. Love the spring launch , I've never done that, great way to get started! How you got pivot pin in with out special tool was interesting, only one launched spring ! I have really enjoyed building palmetto products. Building another 6.5 creed right now. My first 5-6 years ago and my wife is still vacuuming up springs ! Hands started going bad on me so I had to make several tools to hold the small parts for assembly. Thanks for your vid. Great job don't pay any attention to the nay Sayers . There is more than one way to skin a rat!!

  2. I've learned that it is 1000% easier to install the bolt catch roll pin when the trigger and hammer are installed. Also screw Palmetto for not using the screw type pin for the bolt catch. Everyone else does. Is that a Gen 1 PSA? Mine looks different.

  3. Lots of egos in the comments… otherwise, great assembly video. I am doing the same build today and wanted to find out about the rear takedown pin and safety selector switch. Your video clarified that for me, thanks.

  4. Good video, but does it bother anyone that there was no gun oil or gun grease applied to any of the components? If this weapon is to last any time at all, it needs some lubrication – especially the safety selector!

  5. I built that very lower but can't find a compatible upper that matches the ridge on the mag Well. PSA said it was a gen 1 which they don't make anymore, nice to know after the fact. All their uppers are gen 2. So what I'm I suppose to Do? mismatch looks like crap. I would like gen1 with gen1 or something compatible.

    thanks

  6. I enjoyed your video, thanks a lot.  I'm doing my first LR308n build myself.  Would you know if I can use the vltor 7 position emod a5 stock?  Or should I just stick with a regular carbine buffer tube and stock?  Thanks, I'll take all the pointers you got!

  7. There was serious things left out such as Armalight and DPMS pasterns for upper and lower receivers won't interchange.
AR 15 and AR 10 fire control do interchange one is not larger than the other.
Plunger and plunger tube & spring from AR 15 – AR 10 interchange, one is not larger than the other.
This is why never take the word serious of a kid doing a video in YouTube.

  8. I've been looking for this. Already built mine though. I've done a lot of AR-15s. Grease, helps keeps springs from launching. Lot of lithium grease on the spring and pin. I grease all the springs and moving parts. I also use a punch a little smaller than the hole to help get the trigger stuff in position, then put in the pin pushing out the punch making small adjustments until it lines up, then a tad of tapping with a short hammer.

Just went out to quickly test my AR 308, shooting with the trunk lid up for shade. It turned off the roll over fuel switch and I was stranded in the super hot with my kid and little yappy dogs. Figured it had to be the fuel shutoff for accidents. Had to call the auto company, get the dealership number, call them and they told me how to reset. No fun misadventure. Gun shot like a champ though. Super sweet. 5 rounds, first covering my face, then 10 rapid rounds. LOVE IT
