EOTech 516 Review & POV Shooting

Brief overview of the EOTech 516 Holographic Weapons Sight, including POV/first person shooting through the sight. Video includes overview of some of the key specifications, reticle display, summary of the sight-in session, and concludes with POV shooting at 50 to 60 yards. I hope to post future POV shooting sessions at longer distances.

Sight is mounted to my AR15 carbine; Rock River Arms upper receiver with 16″ barrel and Bushmaster lower. This is my second EOTech. I previously owned a model 552 but a reflective lens inside the unit broke after the warranty expired. I tried to repair this defect myself, but was unable to do so. EOTech would not repair the unit beyond the warranty, especially after I had made my own attempt to repair. The unit had not been abused, it simply broke. In spite of this, I still felt the EOTech product was a better fit for my needs and therefore purchased the model 516.

  2. No. On an AR15 or 5.56mm NATO round sighting in at 25 meters will give you the same accuracy as 250 meters. Yards, Meters they are pretty much the same. I was in the Army and we always zeroed our M16s and M4s at 25 meters within the radius of a dime. At 250 meters it was a quarter radius. We qualified with 10 meter, 25 meter, 50 meter, 100 meter, 150 meter and 300 meter pop up targets and 25 meter sighting in with a 5.56mm. I would assume that you could use the same numbers with a civilian .223 because the 5.56 NATO has a metal rod running through the center but has higher chamber pressures.

I have a Ruger Mini 14 and use these numbers. I have Smith and Wesson M&P15 that is chambered for 5.56 NATO but will fire. .223 Rem also. I really can;pt tell that much of a difference between rounds other than my Ruger is older and I won't fire the NATO rounds through it. It is not chambered for them just the .223. But still even on the Ruger I have pretty much the same shot grouping at 250 yards as I do 25 yards and way easier on the eyes.

  3. Love my Eotech XPS2 and magnifier combo. Wish I had a range to my disposal all the time…..back to reality now. :)I used Aimpoint multiple tours in Iraq and now that I've had my Eotech, like it more. Any issues they supposedly have or had won't affect most people unless your maybe going from the arctic to the desert. Better re-zero to be safe. Great review and like your range! Nice shooting.
