I do some shooting with the Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 1 on a Bravo Company AR-15 and the Rail Mount 2 on a Sons of Liberty Gun Works AR-15 then do a beam pattern comparison with a Surefire M600 Scout light and go over what I think of the flashlights overall.

  1. great review, but i have a question. i assume that at night and inside, with either the one or the two being the only light on in your house, as you practice "clearing" your house, how do these 2 compare with their brightness washing out whatever your gun is pointing at? i realize the rail mount 2 would be worse than the one for washing out objects (due to the extra output), but i was wondering if either or both are still usable at close quarters just like they are at 40 feet away outside? or is the rail mount two too bright and the rail mount one ok, or are both just too bright for inside use (using the cr123)?

  2. great review.solid content as always and just about everything needed to make an informed purchase.
i just got the protac rail mount 1 and love it so far.i was a bit concerned the 350 lumens wouldnt be enough but its just right.more than enough light to clear a house and enough to turn night into day out to 120 yds atleast. good throw and just right flood.id say its just enough to use as a weapon itself to dazzle or temporarily blind an intruder set to strobe.and its just right size and 4.3 oz weight works perfectly for my FN M4 AR-15 without weighing the muzzle down.i actually dont even notice it. the multiple mounting options are excellent as well.
the pressure switch is great but im using the tail cap for now atleast.the ten-tap programming is very versatile too although im leaving it on the factory high/strobe setting.
i think my favorite feature however is the dual fuel system.the lithium 3V does give more output but having the AA option is a major convenience and economic plus.3V lasts 1.75 hrs but im not sure about AA.i would think quite a bit longer maybe.
im very happy with the lights performance and features but dissapointed that its made in China.i thought i was buying an American made product.bummer

  3. do you think the rail mount 2 is too much light for indoors? will be on my 16' bcm. mostly for home defense but i dont want it to be under powered if i do have to use it outside. cant decide which one to get.

  4. I know this is an older video but does anyone know if there is a dual pressure pad available for use with a night vision laser/illuminator for these lights? I like the newly released hl-x but can't find any info on a dual pressure pad. any help would be appreciated.

  5. What about the new rail mounted HL-X compared to the rail mount 2? Have you handled one? Trying to find out if it will still work in all the same mounts, seems like many of the mount makers don't have one yet, don't know themselves.

  6. Both lights seem to be awesome for the price, I've been seeing them for like $89 for the #1 and $99 for #2. I'm really liking the smaller size in the #1 and its alittle cheaper. Awesome review Mr. Gunsngear. Thanks for the time and work your doing!

  7. You can also run the Rail Mount 1 on AA lithium batteries. You have the same lumen output as AA alkaline, except you get 4.5 hours of runtime on high. That's a pretty huge benefit for someone okay with 150 lumens.

  8. Sorry if I missed it in the video…I watched this video several times in the last 2 weeks, and actually bought the light because of the deal you posted on your facebook. Do you have any advice for mounting that pressure switch? did you clamp the clips to the 1913 rail and then clip the pressure switch into it? or did you slide the pressure switch in and the clamp the clips onto the rail?
