Why Doesn’t This Rifle Have Any Recoil

The Overt Industries SOFR-15 Alpha isn’t just another AR.

It’s an 11.5-inch 5.56 AR built from the start to live with a suppressor — and that matters.

Most people just slap a can on their rifle and hope for the best. But when a rifle isn’t tuned for suppression, you usually get more gas in your face, more heat, more filth, more wear, and a snappier shooting experience than you need.

Overt did something different.

They built the rifle and suppressor as a system.

No adjustable gas block.
No spring swapping.
No proprietary nonsense.

Just a lightweight, balanced, suppressed AR that shoots flat, soft, and stupid easy.

This rifle surprised me because AR fatigue is real. I’ve shot a million of them, and at some point they all start to blur together. But the SOFR-15 Alpha feels different because it doesn’t fight you.

It’s light.
It’s balanced.
It’s livable.

The kind of rifle that quietly becomes the one you keep grabbing.

  1. So they build the gun around the can so what's that mean they drill a gas port for the can so no need for a adjustable gas block and match the buffer and spring for a can..

  2. It’s funny to watch. He said I love him but it’s like come on guys. We’re taking things just a little too serious. We ar 15 for the Civil War revolution against the government granted you know most of us are not gonna be doing sophisticated James Bond Jason Bourne Mission. I have my rifle Wi-Fi. I won’t see what brand but it’s the best very expensive maid in Germany enough to fight off the small army and protect my family. I’m not gonna put a can on my $4500 rifle if it’s gonna cause detrimental damage to it my ears can handle it for a while.

  3. Forget about using a supresso on an AR that has a match grade chamber. The extra soot will make it so your gun wont fully seat the case after a couple of magazines. The AR is one of the wrost guns to put a supressor on.

  4. I love everything about suppressors, besides that all firearms aren’t designed integrally suppressed. What are we doing folks? Why are we still blowing out our eardrums.

Almost every gun I’ve bought since 2010 or so, when I bought my first suppressor, has been suppressor ready, or I made it suppressor ready. The only real exceptions are revolvers and comped pistols.

But I am annoyed at this point when I’m shooting unsuppressed.

  5. I run a LWRC piston rifle in 5.56 and 6.8SPC. I just attach the can and go. Nothing to adjust. I can clean them with a paper towel and a couple patches down the barrel.
I run the same type of can on both, the original OSS suppressor system. Extremely quiet. Both are 30 cal cans with end caps changed.
